Saudi Express is an air freight company in Saudi Arabia shipping parcels, luggage, documents and urgent goods from the airports of Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Madinah to the Gulf, the Levant, Turkey, North Africa, Europe and Asia, with door pickup, packing, clearance and delivery. Air freight usually arrives within 1 to 7 days depending on destination; prices start from SAR 18 per kg and a document envelope from SAR 55. Call or WhatsApp 0560533140.
In short
- Airports: King Khalid in Riyadh, King Abdulaziz in Jeddah, King Fahd in Dammam and Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz in Madinah
- Transit: 1 to 3 days to the Gulf, 3 to 7 days to North Africa, Europe and Asia
- Price: from SAR 18 per kg, documents from SAR 55 per envelope
- Charged on: the greater of actual and volumetric weight: length × width × height ÷ 6000
- Suits: papers, personal medicines, electronics, urgent spare parts, clothes and luggage
- Not accepted: loose lithium batteries, perfumes and sprays, lighters, gas, flammables
When should you choose air freight?
Choose air freight when the shipment is light or small and urgent, or high-value and unable to wait weeks at sea: official papers, personal medicines, electronics, trade samples, spare parts that are holding up work, and clothes and luggage you need on arrival. A plane delivers in days; a ship needs weeks.
But air is not right for everything. It is charged per kilo or volumetric weight, so it becomes very expensive for large volumes such as furniture, sofas and mattresses. A practical rule: anything above about 100 kg or one cubic metre to a distant destination is cheaper by sea freight, and to the Gulf and Jordan land freight fits better, arriving within a few days anyway.
The smart approach many of our customers take is to split the shipment: what you need within two weeks goes by air, the rest by road or sea. That way you pay air rates on only a few kilos, and you do not wait for the ship to find your papers and your children’s clothes. Cars, on the other hand, we ship by road to the Gulf and Jordan and by sea everywhere else, not by air, since a plane would cost more than most cars are worth.
Saudi airports we ship from
We ship by air from the Kingdom’s main international airports, collecting from every city and moving the shipment to the nearest airport with cargo flights to the destination. Most international shipments leave from Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam for their frequent flights and wide range of destinations.

| Airport | City | Usually serves |
|---|---|---|
| King Khalid International Airport | Riyadh | Riyadh region, Qassim and Hail |
| King Abdulaziz International Airport | Jeddah | Jeddah, Makkah, Taif and the south |
| King Fahd International Airport | Dammam | Eastern Province, Al-Ahsa and Jubail |
| Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport | Madinah | Madinah and Yanbu |
| Regional airports | Abha, Tabuk, Qassim, Jazan | Their shipments are usually consolidated at the main airports |
A shipment collected in Abha, Tabuk or Jazan is usually moved to a main airport because international cargo flights are more frequent there, adding about a day. In Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam, handover to the airport happens on the pickup day or the next.
Air freight prices from Saudi Arabia
Air freight from Saudi Arabia starts from SAR 18 per kg, SAR 55 for a document envelope and SAR 1,675 for an urgent express parcel package. The price varies with destination, chargeable weight, service type (door-to-door express or standard air cargo) and the nature of the goods.
| Service | Details | From (SAR) |
|---|---|---|
| Air freight per kg | Parcels, luggage and goods, by destination | 18 |
| Document envelope | Official papers, contracts and certificates | 55 |
| Urgent express parcels | Door-to-door express package | 1,675 |
| Commercial air cargo | Shipments over 100 kg at weight-break rates | Ask for its price by call or WhatsApp |
| Sensitive shipments | Precision devices or samples needing special handling | Ask for its price by call or WhatsApp |
Commercial air cargo is priced in weight breaks: the heavier the shipment, the lower the rate per kilo, so a 300 kg shipment pays less per kilo than a 30 kg one to the same destination. That is why we advise stores and companies to combine their weekly shipments into one rather than sending small parcels every day.
💡 Before you ask for a price
Measure the carton in centimetres and weigh it, and tell us the contents, destination and city. With those figures we can calculate the chargeable weight and price accurately from the first message.
Your urgent shipment can fly this week
Send the carton dimensions, weight and destination, and we will reply with the price and the next cargo flight from Riyadh, Jeddah or Dammam.
How is volumetric weight calculated in air freight?
In air freight, volumetric weight = length × width × height in centimetres ÷ 6000, and the customer is charged on the greater of this figure and the actual weight. The reason is that an aircraft sometimes fills by space before weight, so a large light carton takes the place of a heavy shipment. Express courier services often divide by 5000 instead of 6000, which raises the volumetric weight.
These common carton sizes show how the chargeable weight changes:
| Carton size (cm) | Volumetric weight (÷6000) | If actual weight is | Chargeable weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| 40 × 30 × 30 | 6 kg | 9 kg | 9 kg |
| 50 × 40 × 40 | About 13.3 kg | 10 kg | 13.3 kg |
| 60 × 50 × 40 | 20 kg | 12 kg | 20 kg |
| 80 × 60 × 50 | 40 kg | 25 kg | 40 kg |
| One full cubic metre | About 167 kg | 80 kg | 167 kg |
The lesson: a carton full of dense items such as books and devices is usually charged on actual weight, while one full of pillows, puffy clothing and plastic toys is charged on volume. So we compress clothes in vacuum bags, choose cartons sized to the contents rather than larger, and leave large light items for sea or road.
Express air freight and standard air cargo
Express air freight is a door-to-door service arriving within 2 to 5 days, suited to small parcels and documents; standard air cargo travels consolidated on cargo flights, arrives within 3 to 7 days and costs less per kilo for larger weights. They differ in speed, price and how clearance is handled.
| Criterion | Express air | Standard air cargo |
|---|---|---|
| Approximate time | 2 to 5 days door to door | 3 to 7 days |
| Suits | Documents and parcels up to a few dozen kilos | Shipments from 45 kg up and commercial goods |
| Volumetric divisor | Usually 5000 | 6000 |
| Clearance | Usually included in the service | Through a broker at the destination airport |
| Rate per kg | Higher | Lower as weight increases |
We choose the service by weight and destination: a small parcel to Europe goes express because that is the better value at that weight, while 200 kg of clothing to Casablanca goes as standard air cargo because its per-kilo rate is much lower.
Shipping parcels and personal luggage by air
Shipping luggage as air cargo is usually cheaper than paying excess baggage at the airport when your belongings exceed your ticket allowance. We collect bags and cartons from your home, pack them and ship them on a cargo flight to your address at destination within days, from SAR 18 per kg depending on destination.

This service is used by students going home after graduation, employees finishing contracts and families sending clothes and personal items ahead of travel. Used personal effects enter most countries duty-free in personal quantities, but new appliances in quantity or many gifts may attract duty at destination.
With every shipment we write a list of contents and approximate value, which destination customs request, and attach a copy of the sender’s passport and the consignee’s ID. Every carton carries the consignee’s name, phone number and destination address.
Packing for air shipments
Air shipment packing must be strong and light at once: strong because the shipment is lifted and stacked at airports, and light because every extra kilo of packing counts in the price. So we use heavy wooden crates only for precision devices that need them.

- Carton: double-wall, sized to the contents, sealed with wide tape in an H pattern.
- Filling: bubble wrap or corrugated board around devices so nothing moves inside.
- Devices: in their original box where available, then inside an outer shipping carton.
- Permitted liquids: in sealed containers inside closed bags, in small quantities.
- Labels: consignee name, phone and address on two sides, old labels removed.
What cannot be shipped by air?
Air freight bans or restricts anything aviation classes as dangerous goods: loose lithium batteries and power banks, perfumes, colognes and flammable liquids, aerosols, lighters and matches, gas cylinders, paints and solvents, strong magnets and dry ice. These limits come from international aviation rules for dangerous goods and are applied by every airline.
Devices with a built-in battery, such as phones and laptops, are usually accepted under conditions and in limited numbers, while loose batteries are refused. Perfumes, liquid incense and oud oil are among the Kingdom’s most requested items, and the right way to ship them is by sea or road in tight packing, not by air. Each country also has its own import prohibitions, such as large quantities of medicine, fresh food or certain wireless devices.
⚠️ Never hide a dangerous item in a parcel
Hiding a battery or perfume inside a carton exposes the whole shipment to being stopped at airport security, returned or destroyed. Tell us the full contents and we will suggest the permitted way to ship them.
Shipping medicines and electronics by air
Personal medicines go by air in quantities for personal use with the prescription or a doctor’s report, while commercial quantities need permits from the destination’s health authorities, and some countries ban specific items even when they are allowed in the Kingdom. So we ask for the medicine’s name and quantity before booking and check that the destination accepts it.
Electronics are among the most common air shipments: phones, laptops, cameras and smartwatches. A device with a built-in battery is usually accepted under conditions: well packed, fully switched off and never shipped with loose spare batteries. New devices in large numbers are treated as commercial goods, need an invoice and may attract duty at destination.
What happens at the destination airport?
When the aircraft lands, the shipment is unloaded at the airport cargo terminal, the broker files its data with customs, it is screened by scanner or by hand, any duties are paid and it is released for delivery. With express service this usually takes a day; with standard air cargo it can take two days or more depending on the country.
Many countries exempt small personal parcels from duty up to a certain value and charge duty and tax above it or on commercial goods, usually paid by the consignee. That is why we declare a realistic value: one that is too low may be reassessed, and one that is needlessly high raises the charges. The consignee should have their ID ready and their phone on, as the broker may call to confirm details.
Mistakes that raise air freight costs or cause delays
- A carton bigger than its contents: you pay for air because of volumetric weight.
- Hidden dangerous goods: a perfume or battery in the parcel stops the whole shipment at security.
- A vague description: “items” instead of a contents list delays clearance.
- Scattered small shipments: ten parcels on different days cost more than one combined shipment.
- Incomplete consignee details: a wrong phone number or unclear address sends the parcel back to the warehouse.
- Sending furniture by air: large light pieces are billed on volume, costing several times sea freight.
Insurance for air shipments is available for devices and valuable goods, priced as a share of the declared value and covering loss and damage in transit under its terms. We explain what it includes before shipping.
Documents required for air freight
Air freight requires the air waybill issued by the shipping company, the sender’s ID or iqama, the consignee’s details and ID, and a list of contents and value. Commercial goods also need a commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin when requested, and an export declaration via the FASAH platform.
| Document | For which shipment | Prepared by |
|---|---|---|
| Air waybill (AWB) | All shipments | Saudi Express |
| Sender ID or iqama | All shipments | Customer |
| Consignee details and ID | All shipments | Customer |
| Contents and value list | Parcels and luggage | Customer with Saudi Express |
| Commercial invoice and packing list | Goods | Shipper |
| Certificate of origin | Some goods and countries | Shipper via the chamber of commerce |
| FASAH export declaration | Commercial shipments | Saudi Express |
An accurate description of the contents matters more than any other paper: a parcel labelled “items” may be held at security or customs, while “used clothing 8 kg, books 4 kg” passes quickly. We help you write the list in the form destination customs accept.
Air freight transit times by destination
Air freight from Saudi Arabia takes 1 to 3 days to the Gulf and 3 to 7 days to North Africa, Europe and Asia, from pickup to delivery. These approximate times include the flight, clearance and delivery:
| Region | Examples | Approximate door-to-door time |
|---|---|---|
| Gulf states | UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman | 1 to 3 days |
| Egypt, Jordan and the Levant | Cairo, Amman, Beirut | 2 to 4 days |
| Turkey | Istanbul, Ankara | 3 to 5 days |
| North Africa | Casablanca, Tunis, Algiers, Tripoli | 4 to 7 days |
| Europe | London, Paris, Berlin | 3 to 6 days |
| Asia | India, Pakistan, Indonesia, China | 3 to 7 days |
| North America | United States, Canada | 4 to 8 days |
Public holidays at destination and seasons such as Ramadan, Eid and the end of the school year add a day or two as pressure on cargo flights and customs rises. The most popular destinations have detailed guides, such as Shipping Company from Saudi Arabia to the UAE, Shipping Company from Saudi Arabia to Turkey and Shipping Company from Saudi Arabia to Morocco.
Air freight for online stores and companies
Air freight for stores and companies means regular shipments at weight-break rates, orders consolidated into one shipment and papers ready on a fixed template. We serve stores selling from the Kingdom to the Gulf and Arab countries, and companies sending samples, spare parts or devices to their branches and customers.
The most common commercial air cargo includes clothing and abayas, non-flammable cosmetics, accessories, small electronics within battery rules, packaged dates in small quantities and urgent spare parts. Each needs its own packing and description; cosmetics containing alcohol, for example, are treated as flammable.
A company shipping weekly benefits from a fixed pickup time at its warehouse, a lower per-kilo rate when shipments are combined, and a report of air waybill numbers for every shipment. If orders are bulky, it is better value to ship batches by sea or road to a warehouse at destination and distribute locally.
Cities we collect from and our consolidation warehouses
We collect air shipments from every city in the Kingdom and consolidate them at our Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam warehouses, where they are weighed, measured, checked and packed before handover to the airport. This step confirms the chargeable weight before the flight and that the contents comply with aviation rules.

| Region | Cities | Handover to the airport |
|---|---|---|
| Riyadh | Riyadh, Al-Kharj, Al-Majmaah | Same day to 1 day |
| Makkah | Jeddah, Makkah, Taif | Same day to 1 day |
| Eastern Province | Dammam, Khobar, Dhahran, Jubail, Al-Ahsa | Same day to 1 day |
| Madinah | Madinah, Yanbu | 1 day |
| Qassim and Hail | Buraidah, Unaizah, Ar Rass, Hail | 1 to 2 days |
| North and south | Tabuk, Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, Najran | 1 to 2 days |
Our air freight steps
Air freight with Saudi Express takes six steps:

- Send the details: destination, contents, weight and dimensions, and your city, to 0560533140.
- Price: we calculate the chargeable weight, suggest express or standard, and send the price.
- Pickup: we collect from your door, pack and write the contents list.
- Check and weigh: at the warehouse before airport handover, confirming no dangerous goods.
- Flight: we send you the air waybill number for tracking.
- Clearance and delivery: at the destination airport, then delivery to the consignee.
Tips for lower-cost air freight
The lowest-cost air shipment carries no air: a carton sized to its contents, dense contents and a weight close to the volumetric weight. Our advice:
- Use vacuum bags for clothes and blankets before boxing them.
- Choose a carton sized to the contents; a big half-empty carton is charged on its volume.
- Combine your parcels into one shipment instead of several small ones; the rate falls with weight.
- Send only what you need immediately by air, and the rest by road or sea.
- Never put perfumes or loose batteries in an air parcel.
- Describe contents precisely; a vague description delays screening and clearance.
