Saudi Express handles your whole household move from Jeddah to the UAE: a carpenter takes the furniture apart and labels it, a team packs each piece in what suits it, a written inventory records every box and item, a closed truck crosses Al Batha to the emirate you are moving to, and finally the rooms and kitchen are reassembled in your new home. The shipment usually arrives within 4 to 7 days of loading. A single bedroom can be moved from SAR 1,540, and a two-bedroom flat from SAR 3,250. How much does furniture moving from Jeddah to the UAE cost?
Furniture moving from Jeddah to the UAE starts from SAR 1,540 for a single bedroom, SAR 3,250 for a two-bedroom apartment and SAR 11,250 for a medium villa, including dismantling, packing, loading, transport and reassembly in the UAE. What you actually pay follows the volume of your furniture after packing, not just the number of rooms.
The reason is simple: the same room count can hide twice the volume from one home to the next. A bedroom with a six-door wardrobe, a large dresser and a king mattress takes nearly twice the space of one with a single bed and a small wardrobe. So we always start with a survey, in person or by video, and then give you a clear written price that states what it includes.
Typical starting rates for moving a household, or just a few pieces of it, to the Emirates:
| Service | Details | Starts from (SAR) |
|---|---|---|
| Medium villa | A whole truck, sometimes two | 11,250 |
| Three-room flat | Normally its own truck | 6,980 |
| Two-bedroom flat | With kitchen, appliances and boxes | 3,250 |
| Master bedroom | Large wardrobe, king bed and dresser | 2,380 |
| Single bedroom | Dismantled, wrapped, moved and refitted | 1,540 |
| Four-door wardrobe | Single item on a shared truck | 700 |
| Arabic majlis | Cushions, mattresses and tables | 1,440 |
| European sofa | With fabric wrapped against dust | 1,120 |
| Fridge or washing machine | Padded wrap, moved upright | 370 |
| Split air conditioner | Indoor and outdoor units, piping not included | 280 |
| Television | In its box or a padded carton | 230 |
| Standard box | Clothes, books and kitchenware | 46 |
What is not included in these figures? Wooden crates for delicate pieces such as marble, large mirrors and antiques, new AC piping in the UAE, and any fee your UAE building charges for using the service lift. If any of these apply, we write them down before loading so nothing surprises you after delivery.
How do we work out the volume of your furniture?
We work out the volume in cubic metres by surveying the home: we count the large pieces, estimate the number of boxes, and then choose the right truck or the right space on a shared truck. A video survey is enough in most cases: you walk through the rooms with your phone and open the wardrobes and storerooms while we note the items with you.
These rough figures help you picture the volume: a single bedroom is about 6 to 9 cubic metres, a master bedroom 10 to 14, a two-bedroom apartment 16 to 24, and a medium villa 40 to 60 cubic metres. What surprises people most is the storeroom and the kitchen: boxes of kitchenware, pots and pantry items can equal a whole room.
During the survey, tell us what you will leave in Jeddah, sell or give away. Every piece that is not shipped reduces the volume, and the time to decide is before pricing, not on loading day.
How long does furniture moving from Jeddah to the UAE take?
Expect around 4 to 7 days between the first box being loaded in Jeddah and the last bed being assembled in the UAE: a day or two for packing and loading, about two days on the road, one to three days for the two border procedures, then delivery and reassembly.
This is what the week looks like for a typical family apartment:
| Day | What happens | What we need from you |
|---|---|---|
| Days before loading | Survey, price and date | Copies of ID, residency and your UAE address |
| Day 1 | Dismantling rooms and kitchen, packing | Empty small items from wardrobes, or leave them for us to pack |
| Day 2 | Finishing packing, inventory and loading | Check and sign the inventory |
| Days 3 and 4 | The road from Jeddah to Al Batha | Nothing; we update you on the truck’s location |
| Around day 5 | Clearance at Al Batha and Al Ghuwaifat | Answer any questions from the broker |
| Day 6 or 7 | Delivery and reassembly | You or your representative at the home |
The days are approximate: they can be shorter when the border is quiet or a little longer in holiday seasons. What matters is that you book your flights so you arrive in the UAE before or with the truck, because delivery and reassembly need the homeowner or someone they authorise to be present.
Dismantling and numbering by carpenters
Dismantling decides how the furniture will be reassembled in the UAE, so with us it is done by a carpenter who knows furniture, not a loader. Large wardrobes, beds and kitchens are taken apart, and every screw and metal fitting goes into a small numbered bag tied to the piece itself.
We number the parts with labels showing the room name and piece number, and we photograph a wardrobe before dismantling it if it has a special assembly. This makes reassembly in Dubai or Abu Dhabi faster and prevents lost screws, the most familiar headache in long-distance furniture moves. Furniture that does not come apart, such as fixed sofas and some tables, is wrapped whole and loaded where nothing heavy sits on top of it.
Packing for a long journey: each piece its own method
Packing furniture from Jeddah to the UAE is different from packing for a move within the city, because the truck covers thousands of kilometres in high heat and vibrates for long hours. So we use several layers depending on the material: bubble wrap, reinforced cardboard, moving blankets, corner protectors and sometimes wooden crates.

| Item | Packing method | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Polished wood and wardrobes | Moving blanket, then stretch wrap and cardboard corners | Protects edges from scratches and rubbing |
| Glass and mirrors | Thick bubble wrap, then strong cardboard or a wooden crate | Long vibration breaks unsecured glass |
| Sofas and mattresses | Sealed plastic covers | Keeps dust and moisture off the fabric |
| Marble and antiques | Padded wooden crate | Heavy loads on top would break them |
| Dishes and plates | Wrapped individually and packed upright in double-wall boxes | Less contact between pieces |
| Electronics | Original box or a padded carton | Absorbs shocks |
We write on every box the room it will go to in the new home and its number on the inventory. When the truck reaches Sharjah, for example, the team knows where each box goes without asking you about every one, and if a box is missing we know its number and contents straight away.
Kitchens, air conditioners and appliances
A wooden kitchen is fully dismantled if it will be refitted in the UAE, bearing in mind that the new kitchen’s dimensions may differ, so we photograph the measurements before dismantling to help you decide whether it is worth moving. Kitchen worktop marble is heavy and delicate, so it travels in a wooden crate or is left behind.
- Fridge: unplugged at least six hours before loading, cleaned and dried, and moved upright, not lying down.
- Washing machine: the drum is locked with transit bolts if available, and all water is drained.
- Split ACs: both units are removed and the refrigerant pumped into the outdoor unit; reinstalling in the UAE needs a local piping technician.
- Screens: in their original boxes if you kept them, otherwise in a special padded carton.
- Ovens and cookers: gas cylinders are disconnected and left in Jeddah, as they are not allowed in the shipment.
Customs exemption for personal effects in the UAE
Personal effects and used furniture are usually exempt from customs duty in the UAE after inspection, provided they are used and in quantities suited to personal use. New items in commercial quantities are charged 5%. For personal-use imports, Dubai Customs wants three things: your passport or ID copy, your residence visa copy and a written list of what is in the shipment.
This rule matters to you in two ways. First, do not put boxes of new goods meant for sale or distribution into your furniture, because customs will then treat the shipment as commercial. Second, the inventory must be truthful and detailed, as it is the document the inspector checks against what is in the truck.
Before the truck reaches your home in the UAE
Before the truck arrives in the UAE, make sure of three things: your new home is ready and open, the building or community management has issued a move-in permit if it requires one, and the service lift is booked for the delivery time. Many towers in Dubai and Abu Dhabi do not allow furniture in without a prior permit and a fixed time slot.

On delivery, the team carries each piece to its room according to the labels and then starts assembling beds, wardrobes and the kitchen. Check the items against the inventory before signing, and do not sign for an unopened box that shows clear signs of damage; ask for it to be opened and checked in front of the team. If your villa in Al Ain or Al Dhafra is off the main road, send us the map location the day before.
The furniture route from Jeddah to the UAE: by road via Al Batha
Furniture travels from Jeddah to the UAE by road in a closed truck, because road is the only route that takes furniture door to door without a transfer. The truck leaves Jeddah for Riyadh, heads to the Al Batha border crossing, passes through Al Ghuwaifat and continues to the emirate.
Some people ask why furniture is not shipped by sea from Jeddah port. The reason is that the vessel must leave the Red Sea and sail around Yemen and Oman before entering the Arabian Gulf, which takes much longer, plus the furniture has to be trucked to the port, unloaded and trucked again to the home, and every extra loading and unloading means more chance of damage. That is why road is the practical choice for home moves on this route.
Air freight for your first-days bag
Air freight from Jeddah to the UAE does not suit furniture because it is charged by volumetric weight, but it is very useful for a box or two you need in your first days before the truck arrives: school clothes, documents, children’s things and your work laptop. It usually arrives within 2 to 4 days.

On a plane you pay for space as much as weight: the airline multiplies the box’s centimetre measurements, divides by 6,000 and charges whichever figure is higher. So put small heavy things like books and papers on the plane and leave large light items like pillows and blankets for the truck. Air rates depend on what you send and how heavy it is, so ask for the price by phone or WhatsApp; service details are on our air shipping page.
The family car: with the furniture or on its own?
The family car is shipped on a separate car carrier, not inside the furniture truck, and car shipping from Jeddah to the UAE starts from SAR 3,540. Its date can be coordinated with the furniture so the car and furniture arrive in the same week.

Do not put belongings inside the shipped car: it is inspected separately and may be refused if luggage is found in it. If you will register the car in the UAE, you need an export certificate from the traffic department in Saudi Arabia, and you should check that its age is within what the UAE registration authority allows. Full details on cars and cargo are in our article shipping company from Jeddah to the UAE, and carrier types are on our car shipping page.
Moving valuable and delicate pieces from Jeddah to the UAE
Valuable pieces such as pianos, antiques, paintings, crystal chandeliers and heirloom furniture need special preparation before a long trip to the UAE, above all a wooden crate built to the size of the piece. These items cannot take weight on top of them, and they cannot rattle inside an ordinary carton for hours on the Al Batha road.
A chandelier, for example, has its crystal drops removed one by one, each wrapped in soft paper and then bubble wrap and placed in a divided box, while its metal frame is packed separately. Large paintings go between two sheets of reinforced board and then into a wooden frame, and travel standing on their edge, not flat. A piano has its lid secured, is wrapped in thick blankets, moved on a special dolly and given a fixed place in the truck against its wall.
Before loading, we photograph these pieces and record their condition on the inventory, so any old scratch is noted from the start. This protects both you and us, because the check on delivery is based on a written record rather than memory. If you want special cover for high-value items, tell us their real value before packing.
Insuring your furniture during the move to the UAE
Furniture insurance is an option we arrange for those who want it. It is based on the value declared in the inventory and usually covers damage that happens in transit because of an accident or a fall. What it usually does not cover: items the owner packed without inspection, internal faults in appliances that show no external damage, and wear caused by the nature of the piece itself, such as weak timber.
Our advice is to divide your belongings into three groups: ordinary furniture that good packing is enough for, mid-value pieces whose value is written on the list, and valuable pieces that need a crate and special cover. This keeps the insurance cost reasonable and puts the protection where you really need it.
Storage before you travel or after you arrive
Temporary storage solves the problem of a new home that is not ready yet, or a Jeddah lease that ends before your flight. We pack, number and store the furniture in a closed warehouse, then load it on the date you choose, so you do not have to pay an extra month’s rent for a few days.
Storage is charged by the month and by volume, and it can be in Jeddah before shipping. We recommend storing furniture already in full travel packing, so it does not need repacking when it ships. Service details are on our furniture storage page.
What does not go in the furniture truck
The furniture truck to the UAE cannot carry gas cylinders, fuel or flammable materials, weapons and ammunition, drugs of course, or chemicals such as concentrated pesticides.
Carry cash, gold, jewellery, passports, original certificates and contracts with you in your hand luggage. The truck passes inspections and borders and spends days on the road, and these things cannot be replaced.
We also advise against shipping opened food, unsealed liquids and house plants, because the heat inside the truck in summer is high and liquids may leak onto the furniture. Carry personal medicines with you with their prescription instead of packing them in boxes.
Emirates we move furniture to
Wherever your new address is in the Emirates, the truck can reach it, from the Abu Dhabi capital region to the northern emirates and the east coast.
Jeddah districts we move furniture from
We move furniture from every district of Jeddah, reaching apartment blocks, villas, palaces and gated compounds. These include Obhur Al Shamaliyah, Al Murjan, Al Basateen, Al Muhammadiyah and Al Shati in the north; Al Rawdah, Al Khalidiyah, Al Salamah, Al Zahra and Al Nahdah in the centre and west; Al Safa, Al Marwah, Al Samer, Al Naseem, Al Ajwad and Al Hamdaniyah in the east; and Al Rehab, Al Faisaliyah, Al Aziziyah, Al Jamiah, Al Sanabel and Al Amir Fawaz in the south and centre.
In compounds that require an entry permit for trucks, give us the compound name and the contact person’s number the day before loading so we can arrange access. In older buildings without lifts in central Jeddah, we bring extra crew or a furniture hoist for upper floors. If you live in Riyadh, there is a dedicated guide to furniture moving from Riyadh to the UAE, and the full picture for every Saudi city is in shipping from Saudi Arabia to the UAE.
When should you book your move from Jeddah?
Book your furniture move from Jeddah to the UAE at least two weeks before you travel, and earlier still if you are moving at the end of the school year or before long holidays, because demand for trucks heading to Al Batha rises at those times.
Booking early gives you three practical benefits: you can choose a loading day that matches the end of your Jeddah lease, you have enough time to sort your belongings and sell what you do not need, and you can arrange the move-in permit at your new UAE building before the truck arrives. Anyone who calls two days before their flight may find the dedicated trucks already booked and have to wait, or store the furniture until the next departure.
If your move is sudden because of work, tell us plainly. We can sometimes prepare and pack the furniture in a single day, store it and ship it on the first available departure, so you travel on time and your furniture follows a few days later.
