Makkah is mountainous and many districts are built on slopes; some homes can only be reached by the truck from a street above or below. Then the crew carries items further, or a small dyna shuttles them to the main street where the truck waits, which is why two moves with the same number of rooms can be priced differently.
So when you ask for a price we want room photos, a photo of the street outside and a short description of access: is there an outside staircase, is the street steep, can the truck stop at the entrance? With that we set crew and vehicle size and give a price that does not change on the day.
What makes moving in Makkah different?
Three things: the mountainous terrain and slopes, older districts with narrow lanes, and heavy traffic in the central area and during Hajj and Umrah seasons. Each changes how a move is done and needs a crew that knows the city and plans ahead.
During Hajj, Umrah and Ramadan seasons traffic increases on roads to the central area, and truck movement may be regulated on some roads and at some times. When you book we check which arrangements apply, plan the hour and route around them, and offer another day if yours clashes.
Which Makkah districts do we serve?
- Central and older districts: Al Misfalah, Ajyad, Al Maabdah, Al Hindawiyah, Al Kakiyah, Jarham, Al Zahir.
- North and east: Al Sharaie, Al Adl, Al Naseem, Al Rashidiyah, Al Rusaifah, Al Khalidiyah, Al Taneem, Al Shawqiyah.
- South and west: Al Aziziyah, Al Awali, Bathaa Quraish, Al Nuzhah, Al Zaidi, Al Malawi, Al Hamra, Al Hijrah, Al Umrah.
- Near Makkah: Al Jumum, Bahrah, New Al Sharaie.
In newer districts such as Al Sharaie, Al Awali and Al Naseem streets are wider and buildings usually have lifts, so the truck parks at the door and the move runs quickly. In older districts we rely on a small vehicle and extra crew, splitting the move into short trips to a nearby collection point.
How do we move furniture in narrow and hillside districts?
In two stages: a small vehicle or short dyna carries items from the door to a point where the truck can park, and the truck is loaded there. It is quicker than forcing a large truck into a narrow lane and safer than carrying furniture long distances on a slope.
On steep streets we load with weight low and close to the cab, strap every row and put blankets between items, because anything loose slides when braking. Long outdoor staircases, common in hillside homes, need more crew and short breaks, and we pad their edges with cardboard. If a staircase is too narrow for a wardrobe or large sofa, we use the lift from the roof or balcony.
How do we dismantle and assemble furniture in Makkah?
A specialist carpenter handles it, from SAR 95 per simple item. He dismantles wardrobes, beds, children’s rooms and kitchens, numbers panels, bags screws, wraps mirrors and glass doors separately and rebuilds everything in order in the new home.

In narrow districts we dismantle pieces to the smallest practical size because doors and stairs are tighter than in modern homes. In modern buildings we dismantle only what will not fit the lift, leaving the rest whole so particle-board bedrooms do not suffer from repeated dismantling. Before any kitchen unit comes off, the carpenter measures the wall it will go on in the new home.
How do we pack furniture and protect it from Makkah’s heat?
With heavy film, blankets and boxes, closed vehicles and early-morning starts in hot months. Packing starts from SAR 45 for a few items and rises with the number of rooms.

Sofas get two layers, mattresses sealed bags, dishes and glass small padded boxes, and appliances their boxes or bubble wrap. Every box is labelled with its room. Summer heat affects leather, fabric and sensitive electronics left in the sun, so items go from the doorway directly into the truck, whose doors stay shut between loads.
When do you need a furniture lift in Makkah?
In Makkah the lift comes in when a piece jams between stair walls, will not fit the elevator, sits on an upper floor with no elevator, or must climb a long, narrow outdoor stair typical of hillside homes. The lift starts from SAR 140 and raises items straight from the balcony or roof.

Buildings near the central area and newer towers have service-elevator rules and loading times that we check in advance. On sloping streets we position the lift carefully on level, safe ground.
Which vehicle suits your Makkah move?
Vehicles we use for moves in Makkah:
| Vehicle | Suits | When we use it |
|---|---|---|
| Small closed dyna | One room or a few items | Narrow lanes and partial moves |
| Large closed dyna | Two- to four-room flat | Newer districts and wide streets |
| Closed truck | Villas and large homes | Where the road allows parking |
| Shuttle vehicle | Carries items from door to truck | Homes on slopes or in lanes |
For very small moves of one or two items, see small moves, which costs less than booking a full dyna.
Do you move furnished apartments and offices in Makkah?
Yes; an office or shop starts from SAR 465. Furnished apartments need a fast, orderly move because their furniture is similar and plentiful, so we number items by apartment, wrap beds, mattresses and appliances, and deliver each apartment complete to its new place. Offices move after hours or on days off, with desks and cabinets numbered by department and files in sealed boxes.
How do we move villas and large homes in Makkah?
With a plan that starts by surveying each floor, the annex, the roof and the yard; villas start from SAR 930. Villas in Al Awali, Al Sharaie, Al Naseem and Al Zaidi usually let the truck park at the entrance, while large homes in older districts may need a shuttle vehicle and more crew. Bedroom furniture goes into the truck at the end so it is the first thing out and up the same day, and on a slope we park on level ground and lay boards over entrance steps for heavy items.
Common mistakes that lengthen a Makkah moving day
- Booking at peak traffic times without checking road rules.
- Not telling the mover the home is on a slope or in a narrow lane, so a truck arrives that cannot enter.
- Leaving small items unpacked until the day.
- Forgetting to measure where the kitchen and wardrobes will stand in the new home.
- Starting at midday in summer.
How to choose a serious mover in Makkah
A serious mover asks about access, stairs and floor before pricing, sends a carpenter rather than loaders only, uses closed vehicles and new packing, and writes an item list to check at handover. In Makkah also ask: do they know the district, do they have a small vehicle for lanes, how do they handle slopes, and do they plan around seasonal traffic rules?
Moving appliances and ACs in Makkah
Split ACs need a technician to pump down the gas and cap the pipes; careless removal loses gas or cracks the copper. Window units are removed and wrapped. Fridges and washers are emptied and disconnected the day before, carried upright and strapped. Leave the fridge standing for two hours before switching it on, especially after sloping roads.
How does a Makkah move run, step by step?
- Booking: fill in the website form with street and room pictures.
- Access check: we study the slope, lane and entrance from photos or a visit.
- Quote and timing: a line-by-line quote and a day planned around seasonal traffic.
- Preparation: carpentry work and wrapping, room after room.
- Loading: directly, or via a shuttle vehicle in narrow districts.
- At the new home: pieces carried to their rooms, beds and appliances set up first.
- Handover: we check items with you before leaving.

Can furniture be stored in Makkah?
Yes, from SAR 140 a month in a closed store; everything is packed, raised on pallets and logged on an inventory sheet. It helps when the new home is delayed, during renovation or while travelling. See furniture storage.
Do you move between Makkah, Jeddah, Taif and other cities?
Yes, in closed trucks with the same dismantling, packing and assembly. For Jeddah see the moving company in Jeddah guide; for Taif, the moving company in Taif guide; and for the route from Riyadh, moving from Riyadh to Makkah.
