What makes moving furniture to Makkah different?
Makkah is not like other cities when planning a move. Entry is restricted to Muslims, so we make sure the crew travelling with your furniture into the city is Muslim. Many districts are also built on mountain slopes, with steep streets, building entrances reached by long stairways, and limited parking in front of homes.
On top of that, Makkah lives through the Hajj and Umrah seasons, when special rules apply to vehicles entering the city and moving near the central area. These rules change from season to season, so we confirm the requirements in force on the booking day and suggest a date that avoids peak days whenever possible.
How much does furniture moving from Dammam to Makkah cost?
Moving furniture from Dammam to Makkah starts from SAR 740 for a small flat of one or two rooms and from SAR 1,200 for a three-room flat. Villas and large houses start from SAR 5,500, because they need a large truck, a bigger crew and sometimes an extra day of assembly.
Starting prices on the Dammam – Makkah route:
| Service | Details | From (SAR) |
|---|---|---|
| Small flat | One or two rooms of standard furniture | 740 |
| Medium flat | Three bedrooms with living room and kitchen | 1200 |
| Villa or large house | Large truck and extended crew | 5500 |
| Furniture hoist for upper floors | When stairs or lift are too narrow | Quoted by phone or WhatsApp |
| Shuttle vehicle for narrow districts | From the large truck to your door | Quoted by phone or WhatsApp |
| Temporary storage | Closed warehouse until your home is ready | Quoted by phone or WhatsApp |
The price can rise if your Makkah home is in a hillside district where the large truck cannot reach the door, so a smaller vehicle has to shuttle the furniture in several runs. That is why we ask for the district and street before the date, and if possible a photo of the building entrance so we know what awaits the crew.
How far is Dammam from Makkah and how long does it take?
Dammam and Makkah are about 1,270 km apart on the road through Riyadh, and a loaded truck needs 12 to 14 hours of driving before stops. Most moves on this route therefore take two days: loading and departure on day one, arrival, unloading and assembly on day two.
Approximate times for each stage from Dammam to Makkah:
| Stage | Place | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Dismantling, packing, loading | Dammam | 3 to 6 hours |
| Road to Riyadh | Eastern highway | 4.5 to 6 hours |
| Riyadh towards Makkah | Western highway across Najd and the Hijaz | About 8 hours |
| Unloading and assembly | Your home in Makkah | 4 to 6 hours depending on district and floor |
The driver takes rest stops on the way and the truck stays closed throughout. We tell you where it is whenever you ask, and give you the expected arrival time well before it enters Makkah so you or someone on your behalf can be at home.
What does the crew do in your Dammam home?
The crew starts with a quick walk through the rooms to see what needs dismantling, then lays protective covers on the floors. The carpenter takes apart beds, wardrobes and bookcases, the packers wrap each piece appropriately, and boxes are labelled with the room they will go to in Makkah.

Closed trucks and loading for a long road
We use only closed trucks on this route, because the road is long and crosses hot, dusty areas, and an open truck leaves wood and fabric exposed to sun and dust for hours. The truck size follows the number of rooms: a closed dyna for a small flat, a medium truck for a family flat, a large truck for villas.
Loading starts with the heaviest items: fridge, washer and wooden cabinets at the back, then sofas and mattresses, then light boxes. Blankets go between pieces, each row is strapped to the truck wall, and gaps are filled so nothing moves on bends and climbs.
Delivery in Makkah’s hilly and narrow districts
We reach every district of Makkah, including Al Aziziyah, Al Sharaie, Al Naseem, Al Awali, Al Rusaifah, Al Zaher, Al Shawqiyah, Batha Quraysh, Al Kakiyah, Al Maabdah and Al Hamra. Each has its own character: newer areas such as Al Sharaie and Al Awali have wider streets, while some older districts near the central area are narrow and steep.
In narrow districts we park the large truck at the nearest suitable spot and shuttle the furniture to the door with a smaller vehicle. In buildings with tight stairs or small lifts we use an external furniture hoist where the building permits. We tell you the plan in advance so nobody is surprised on arrival day.

Makkah heat and the timing of unloading
Makkah is hot most of the year, and the stone and asphalt of its hillside districts hold the heat into the evening. So we time the truck’s arrival for unloading early in the morning or after mid-afternoon, not at midday; working in intense heat slows the crew and makes tired hands more likely to drop things.
Heat affects the furniture too: leather and varnished pieces are not left in the sun on the pavement, and candles and thin plastics warp in a hot box. We take sensitive pieces indoors first, then carry on with the boxes and solid items.
Moving majlis sets, rugs and heritage pieces
Many families moving to Makkah have large floor majlis sets and heavy rugs, and sometimes brass coffee pots and heritage pieces with family value. Rugs are shaken free of dust, rolled tightly and wrapped in film so they stay clean on the road; they are never folded, because folds leave permanent lines in the weave.
Floor cushions and backrests are folded into large fabric bags, while heritage and brass pieces are each wrapped in paper and then bubble wrap and placed in a separate labelled box. If you have something irreplaceable, tell us so we can carry it in a safe part of the truck away from heavy items.
Is it cheaper to move your furniture or sell it and buy new in Makkah?
Many people ask this before a trip this long. It depends on the age and value of the furniture: good wooden bedrooms, majlis sets and modern appliances are usually worth moving, since buying their equivalent costs many times the moving fee, while worn old pieces and cheap particle-board furniture may be better sold in Dammam.
Our advice is to split your things into three groups before calling us: what you will move, what you will sell and what you will donate. The move becomes smaller and cheaper, and you do not pay to carry a piece you will throw away a week after arriving.
Assembly and setup in the new home
After unloading, the crew does not leave before reassembling the furniture: beds and wardrobes go back together as they were, curtains are fitted on request, and boxes are placed in the rooms written on them. If air conditioners are part of the move, we arrange a technician to install and test them.
Finally we go through the list of items loaded in Dammam with you, piece by piece, so you know everything has arrived. If you notice anything about a piece, we record it on the spot and agree how to resolve it.
Temporary storage and optional insurance
If your Makkah home is not ready when you leave Dammam, we hold your furniture in a locked warehouse and bring it over when you ask. The service is described on the furniture storage page; cost depends on volume and number of days.
Because the road is long, some customers prefer optional insurance on valuable items, arranged before loading with a written list of items and their condition. The premium depends on the value insured.
Who usually moves from Dammam to Makkah?
Many customers on this route are employees transferred to Makkah or its region, families returning to their family home after years in the Eastern Province, and retirees choosing to live near the Haram. Each case is different: a transferred employee may only move a bedroom and an office, while a returning family moves a whole house with its majlis and kitchen.
So we do not quote one price for everyone; we ask about the contents and propose the right service. If you have only a few things, our small moves service may be more economical.
Questions we ask you before setting the price
So that our figure is close to the final bill, we ask a few short questions; your answers save both of us surprises on the day:
- How many rooms are there, and are there large wardrobes or double beds?
- Which floor are you on in Dammam and in Makkah, and do both buildings have lifts?
- Do you want the kitchen and air conditioners moved, or will you leave them?
- Are there unusual heavy items such as an iron safe or gym equipment?
- What is your Makkah district, and can a truck stop in the street outside?
- When do you receive the new keys, and do you need storage in between?
With these answers and photos of the rooms we set the truck, crew and price, and send you a summary of the agreement on WhatsApp so it is clear to both sides what the price includes and what it does not.
