How is moving from Jazan to Jeddah different?

The clearest difference is that both cities are on the coast, so furniture does not face the sudden dryness it meets when moving to Riyadh or Qassim. But the road runs beside the Red Sea for a long stretch, and salty, humid air makes tight packing more important than anything else.

The second difference is housing. Many families moving to Jeddah live in multi-storey buildings or managed towers with lifts booked by appointment, while most homes in Jazan are villas, duplexes and low-rise buildings. So planning delivery day in Jeddah needs more care than planning loading day.

Which road does the truck take from Jazan to Jeddah?

The truck heads north on the coastal road, the usual route between the two cities, a distance of about 700 to 720 km depending on where we load in Jazan and deliver in Jeddah.

  1. From Jazan to Sabya, then Baish and Al Shuqaiq.
  2. Past Al Birk and Al Qunfudhah along the coast.
  3. Then Al Lith and on to south Jeddah.
  4. Into Jeddah from the south and across to your district.

The road is mostly flat with no mountain passes, which is gentler on the load than routes that climb into Asir. A private car does it in 7 to 9 hours; a loaded truck needs 8 to 10 hours with breaks.

How much does moving from Jazan to Jeddah cost?

Costs start from SAR 2,600 for a small one- or two-bedroom flat and rise with the amount of furniture, the number of appliances and whether a lift is needed in Jeddah. The price we give covers dismantling, packing, loading, transport, unloading and assembly, and we add nothing we have not agreed.

Here are the starting points for the most common jobs on this route:

💡 Save space

Old aluminium kitchens often do not fit the layouts of newer Jeddah flats. Measure your new kitchen before the survey; if it will not fit, it may be cheaper to sell the old one and move only the appliances.

Can a move to Jeddah be done in one day?

Yes. Small and medium flats can be loaded in the morning and reach Jeddah the same evening, with unloading and assembly the next morning if we arrive late. Villas usually need one day for loading and one for delivery.

  • One- or two-bedroom flat: 2 to 3 hours loading, then the road, then delivery in the evening or the next morning.
  • Three- to four-bedroom flat: 4 to 5 hours loading, with delivery and assembly usually the next day.
  • Villa: a full day of dismantling and loading, and a day of unloading and assembly in Jeddah.

We never unload in Jeddah after midnight, however early we arrive, out of respect for neighbours and building rules, and because tired night work raises the risk of scratches. The truck stays locked and guarded until morning.

How do we protect furniture from coastal humidity and salt?

With two layers: a film layer that keeps humid air away from fabric and wood, and a layer of blankets or cardboard to absorb knocks. We never wrap appliances while they are damp inside, so the fridge is switched off the night before and the washer is fully drained.

Metal surfaces such as chair legs, wardrobe handles and kitchen sinks are wrapped carefully, because salt in the air can leave marks if they stay exposed for hours. Mattresses go into zipped bags so they arrive clean and dry.

Who dismantles and assembles the furniture at both ends?

Every truck travels with a carpenter who knows the common bedroom sets and wardrobes, from particle board to solid wood, along with movers for packing and carrying.

🛏️ Bedrooms

Beds, dressers and wardrobes dismantled and numbered, with screws bagged and taped to each piece.

🍳 Kitchens

Upper and lower cabinets taken down and doors wrapped separately; we tell you in advance if the size will not suit your Jeddah kitchen.

❄️ Air conditioners

A technician disconnects units and seals pipes, and reinstalls them in Jeddah if the openings are ready.

🪟 Curtains and lighting

Curtains and small chandeliers taken down and packed in separate boxes.

In Jeddah the carpenter starts with bedrooms, then majlis seating and dining tables, and boxes go to the rooms written on them, so you are not hunting for kitchen items in the children’s room.

Towers and buildings in Jeddah: lift or furniture hoist?

If your Jeddah flat is in a tower or a managed building, the key step is booking the service lift and requesting truck access to the car park before we arrive. Some managements set specific moving hours and some ask for the lift walls to be covered; we bring the covers.

We need the hoist when the lift cannot take pieces such as a large sofa or tall wardrobe, or when there is no lift and the flat is above the third floor. The hoist lifts items straight from the street to the balcony or window, saving time and protecting the stairwell. It starts from SAR 185.

⚠️ Before arrival day

Make sure the street outside the building allows the truck to stop and that local parking rules do not ban trucks at delivery time. Send us a photo of the entrance if you are not sure.

Jeddah districts we deliver to

We deliver across Jeddah, and our preparation depends on the type of buildings in each part of the city, as this table shows:

Part of JeddahExample districtsWhat we prepare
NorthNorth Obhur, Al Shati, Al Muhammadiyah, Al YaqootVillas and towers; lift booking or hoist for high floors
CentreAl Rawdah, Al Naeem, Al Safa, Al FaisaliyahMid-rise buildings; extra hands for the stairs
EastAl Samer, Al Ajwad, Al ManarInner streets; a smaller dyna if needed
SouthAl Hamdaniyah, Al Sanabel, Al SawariNewer districts with wide streets; the large truck reaches the door

For moves within Jeddah itself, such as taking part of your furniture to another home after arrival, see moving companies in Jeddah.

When can the truck enter Jeddah?

Like other large cities, Jeddah regulates truck traffic and restricts it at peak times on main roads. We set the departure from Jazan so we enter Jeddah during permitted hours, and we check the requirements in force on the day you book so the truck is not held at the city entrance.

What to do in the week before the move

Your last week in Jazan decides whether loading day is quick or exhausting. Start by sorting: what goes to Jeddah, what you will donate or sell, and what can go for good. Every box you do not need in Jeddah saves truck space and unloading time.

Then box up small kitchen items and out-of-season clothes, and write on each box the room name in the new home rather than the old one, because the crew in Jeddah will put it where the label says. Leave everyday items such as basic cookware and bedding for the last day.

  • A week before: sort belongings and tell your Jazan landlord the handover date.
  • Three days before: book the tower lift in Jeddah and request truck access.
  • Two days before: pack the light boxes and stack them in one room near the door.
  • The night before: switch off and dry the fridge and drain the washer.
  • Loading day: stay at home until the truck door is shut and walk the rooms with the crew.

If you have children, keep a small bag with their favourite toys and two days of clothes in your car; it makes the first night in Jeddah easier until the boxes are opened.

Is it different moving from the mountain governorates of Jazan?

Slightly. If your home is in Al Aridah or the highland villages in the east of the region, the large truck may not reach your door because the road is narrow or steep. In that case we send a small dyna to shuttle the furniture in batches to an agreed point on the main road and load the large truck there.

This adds an hour or two to loading day but keeps your furniture off roads that do not suit large trucks. We decide whether it is needed from photos of the access road you send before booking.

Where in the Jazan region do we collect?

We collect from Jazan city, in districts such as Al Rawdah, Al Suwais, Al Safa and Al Matar, from governorates near the coastal road such as Sabya, Baish and Al Darb, and from Abu Arish, Samtah, Ahad Al Masarihah and Damad. The closer the pickup is to the coastal road, the shorter the day.

For moves within the region see moving companies in Jazan, and for the opposite direction read our guide to moving from Jeddah to Jazan.

Common mistakes when moving to Jeddah

  • Leaving the tower lift booking until arrival day, so the truck waits for hours.
  • Moving an old kitchen that will not fit the new flat.
  • Putting gold and official papers in boxes instead of carrying them in the car.
  • Not switching off the fridge the night before, so water leaks into nearby boxes.
  • Not telling the movers that the street is narrow or parking is banned outside the building.

Temporary storage and optional insurance

If you reach Jeddah before receiving your flat, or your lease starts a few days later, your wrapped furniture waits in our storage at a rate starting from SAR 45 a day, and we bring it over and set it up on whichever date suits you.

Insurance on your belongings is optional. It suits anyone moving expensive electronics or new furniture and is priced on the value you declare. Ask about details and price by phone or WhatsApp before loading day.
