How far is Najran from Riyadh and what is the road like?
Riyadh to Najran is about 950 to 1,100 km depending on the district the truck leaves from and the road it takes. The usual route heads south via Al-Kharj, then Wadi Al Dawasir, and on to Najran. It is mostly a desert road with long stretches between towns and stations, so driving it needs planned fuel and rest stops.
Pure driving time for a full truck is upward of ten hours, so we plan family moves over two days with an overnight stop at a safe station, while small moves can be done in one long day if loading starts very early. In every case we do not unload in the dark; unloading happens in daylight.

| Delivery to a governorate outside Najran city | By distance | We set it for you by phone or WhatsApp |
| Temporary storage in Najran | By duration and volume | We set it for you by phone or WhatsApp |
These prices reflect the length and nature of the road: fuel for a thousand kilometres or more, one or two days of truck and driver, and a crew to unload and assemble in Najran. Since volume decides the truck and crew, the clearest way to lower the cost is to move only what you really need and sell the rest before travelling through our used furniture buying service.
How is the Najran trip divided?
We split the trip by home size. Small moves can leave Riyadh at dawn and reach Najran before sunset, while family moves are divided as in the table so the crew does not reach Najran tired and start assembling at night.
| Stage | Where | Approximate time |
|---|---|---|
| Dismantling, wrapping and loading | Riyadh | 3 to 6 hours depending on size |
| Driving south to the overnight stop | Via Al-Kharj and Wadi Al Dawasir | 6 to 7 hours |
| Completing the road | To Najran | 4 to 5 hours |
| Unloading and assembly | Najran | 3 to 6 hours |
Desert heat and dust: how do we protect the furniture?
The road to Najran crosses open desert, and in summer the closed truck body gets very hot, while on some days winds carry dust and sand. Long heat affects the adhesives in particleboard as well as wax, perfumes and thin plastics, and dust gets into anything not tightly wrapped.
- Wooden furniture wrapped in tight film then blankets, kept away from the truck walls.
- Sealed covers for mattresses, fabric sofas and curtains.
- Candles, perfumes and meltable items taken out of boxes and carried with you.
- Appliances drained of water and secured upright.
- Straps checked at every stop, especially on long stretches between stations.

Where possible we schedule driving in the cooler early-morning and evening hours, and stop at stations with shade and services rather than at the roadside under the sun. In winter the picture reverses: desert nights can be cold and appliances with water left inside can be damaged, so we insist on draining fridges and washers completely before loading in every season.
Who moves from Riyadh to Najran?
This route largely serves military and security personnel transferred to Najran and the border region, teachers, doctors and government employees appointed there, students and faculty of Najran University, and people from the region returning home. Many of them receive housing from their employer.
If you will live in a compound run by a military or government body, send us the entry requirements early: permits, workers’ names, truck details and permitted hours. These requirements differ and can change, and we confirm them with you on booking day so the truck does not stop at the gate after a thousand-kilometre trip.
⚠️ Confirm the permit before loading
Do not set the loading day in Riyadh until the Najran compound has confirmed the permit. A truck arriving without a permit after two days on the road can mean waiting a full day.

Mud-brick houses and farms in the Najran valley
Najran is known for its traditional mud-brick houses and the palm and citrus farms along its valley, and some families live in restored old houses or modern homes inside farms. These homes may have narrow entrances and steep stairs, and farm tracks are sometimes narrow dirt roads.
We ask for photos of the entrance and track before the date, fully dismantle large pieces where needed, and use a smaller vehicle for the final stage if the truck cannot reach the door. In mud-brick houses we take care with walls and old wooden doors, never leaning on them or carrying heavy pieces pressed against them.
The empty stretches on the road: how do we plan for them?
Some stretches between Wadi Al Dawasir and Najran are long with few services, and an unplanned stop there under the summer sun is no small matter for a loaded truck. So the driver fills the tank at the last large station before each long stretch, carries enough water, and checks tyres and straps before setting off on each leg. These simple steps reduce the chance of any unexpected delay.
We stay in touch throughout the trip: we tell you when the truck leaves, when it reaches the overnight stop, and before it reaches Najran in good time for you to be at the house. If there is any delay because of weather or the road, we tell you immediately with the new arrival time.
Get your Najran home ready before the truck arrives
After a thousand-kilometre trip, what delays unloading most is a home that is not ready. A day before, make sure electricity and water are on, at least one AC works, the home is clean, the doors open and the keys in your hand. If the house is old, ask the landlord to fix broken doors and locks before the furniture goes in.
It also helps to decide in advance where each bedroom, the majlis and the kitchen will be, and to tape a note on each room door. The unloading crew reads the box numbers and room names, so when rooms are marked, everything goes to its place the first time.
Moves for students and single employees
Not everyone moving to Najran moves a whole home; there are Najran University students and employees who moved alone first and need a bed, desk, small fridge, TV and some boxes. For them we arrange a move in a small closed truck, priced by volume after seeing photos, and the rest of the home can follow later when the family joins.
Riyadh pick-up areas for the Najran run
Pick-ups happen across all of Riyadh. Southern districts such as Al Aziziyah, Al Shifa, Al Dar Al Baida and Al Mansuriyah are closest to the Kharj road heading south, so the trip starts within minutes. From northern and western districts such as Al Malqa, Al Narjis, Al Suwaidi and Dhahrat Laban we load early to leave the city before the traffic.
If part of your furniture stays in Riyadh, it can go to your family’s home or a storeroom the same day through our Riyadh furniture moving service.
Which Najran districts and governorates do we deliver to?
In Najran city we deliver to Al Fahd, Al Mukhayyam, Aba Al Saud, Al Faisaliyah, Al Sharafah, Al Mufajah, Al Dubbat, Dahdah, Shiab Bran, Shiab Rir, Al Amir Mishal, Al Khalidiyah, Al Nahdah, Al Matar, Al Ukhdud, Al Mishaliyah, Al Hadan, Al Uraisah and Rajla. We also reach governorates such as Habuna, Badr Al Janub, Yadamah, Thar and Khabash, and Sharurah with special arrangements given its distance from Najran city.

Taking furniture apart, rebuilding it, and the ACs
Whatever the package, our carpenter takes bedrooms and wardrobes apart in Riyadh and puts them back together in Najran, numbering and photographing the parts and bagging each piece’s screws. The carpenter carries spare screws and hinges, because a long road and vibration can damage small old parts.
Najran is hot in summer, so air conditioning is essential. Bring your modern units and arrange at least one to be fitted on arrival day, with fitting agreed according to the new home’s preparation. Very old units may be cheaper to sell in Riyadh than to move.
If your new home is a traditional mud-brick house, its thick walls keep it relatively cool, but fixing AC units into them needs a technician who knows this type of building, so do not ask for a unit to be fixed into an old mud wall without consulting the landlord or a specialist; portable units can serve rooms whose walls are hard to drill.
Moving to Sharurah and distant governorates
Sharurah and some governorates of the Najran region are a long way from Najran city itself, so we do not treat them as a simple extension of the trip. If your destination is Sharurah, we plan a dedicated route and schedule, and it may suit better to head there from Riyadh by a different road. Tell us the exact destination at first contact so we can give you a realistic price and schedule.
Cover for the desert crossing and the item sheet
Across a thousand kilometres of desert, insurance is worth considering: you ask for it before loading, and its cost follows the value you declare for your furniture. In Riyadh we write a sheet of every piece and box signed by both sides, photograph the valuable ones, and match it with you on arrival.
Temporary storage in Najran
Government and military housing may be handed over late, and a rented home may need maintenance and cooling. In these cases we keep the furniture in our locked furniture storage warehouse instead of leaving it on the truck, and bring it over once the house can receive it.
