Saudi Express is a shipping company from Abu Dhabi to Saudi Arabia that moves homes, offices and cars from Abu Dhabi city, Al Ain and the Al Dhafra towns to every city in the Kingdom. Abu Dhabi is the emirate nearest the Saudi border: the truck covers about 340 km west through Al Dhafra to the Ghuwaifat crossing and can clear Al Batha on loading day itself, reaching Dammam and Khobar in 2 to 3 days, Riyadh in 3 to 4 days and Jeddah in 5 to 6 days. Furniture moves are priced from SAR 950 and cars from SAR 2,090; book on 0560533140 by phone or WhatsApp.

Abu Dhabi to Saudi Arabia shipping prices
For Abu Dhabi to Saudi Arabia, moving one room of furniture begins at SAR 950, shared-truck space at SAR 95 per cubic metre, a parcel up to 5 kg at SAR 47, a saloon car at SAR 2,090, and a twenty-foot box out of Khalifa Port at SAR 1,900. Abu Dhabi’s closeness to the border shows up more in transit time than in price.
Some people imagine that being near the border makes shipping from Abu Dhabi far cheaper than from Dubai or Sharjah. There is a difference, but it is not large, because the longest part of the trip is usually inside the Kingdom. What really changes is time: a truck from Abu Dhabi does not have to cross the other emirates, so it reaches the border a few hours after loading, sometimes saving a full day.
The final price depends on the volume of your belongings in cubic metres, the truck type and the Saudi city. Moving a villa in Khalifa City to housing in Dhahran is different from moving an Al Reem Island flat to north Riyadh, and different again from relocating a whole office with its files and equipment. So we ask for photos or a survey visit before quoting.

Why Abu Dhabi is the closest emirate to the Kingdom: the Al Dhafra road
Abu Dhabi is the only emirate that borders Saudi Arabia, and the Ghuwaifat crossing itself lies in its Al Dhafra region. The road there from Abu Dhabi city heads west on the federal highway past Tarif, Ruwais and Al Sila, a distance of about 340 km that a truck covers in roughly four to five hours.
That closeness has a practical effect: a truck loaded in Abu Dhabi before noon is at the frontier by mid-afternoon and, paperwork permitting, over it that same day, starting its journey inside the Kingdom that night or the next morning. A truck from Ras Al Khaimah or Fujairah needs a whole day just to reach the border. So we can be more flexible with loading times in Abu Dhabi.
On the Al Dhafra road there are no large towns after Tarif except Ruwais and, inland, Madinat Zayed, so we make sure the truck is in good mechanical condition and fully supplied before leaving the city. From Al Ain the route is different: the truck comes down Al Dhafra’s inland roads via Madinat Zayed until it meets the federal highway near the border. General trucking details are on our land freight page.
Abu Dhabi Customs requirements before reaching Ghuwaifat
Abu Dhabi Customs requires the customs declaration to be prepared in advance and a transit permit to be issued for the truck before it reaches the Ghuwaifat crossing, and the Saudi clearance data and expected arrival must be entered on the Fasah platform before the truck sets off.
This point is exactly what makes advance preparation essential for shipping from anywhere in the UAE, because every truck bound for the Kingdom exits at Ghuwaifat, which lies in Abu Dhabi. A truck arriving without an advance declaration or transit permit is not processed as it should be and may be turned back or held until its papers are complete. So we start on the paperwork before loading day and make sure the inventory matches the declaration before the truck door closes.
On the Saudi side the declaration is lodged on Fasah, a slot is booked for the truck at Al Batha, and a foreign-registered truck must hold the transport authority’s electronic waybill and is barred from hauling between one Saudi city and another. Both crossings are registered under the international road transport (TIR) system, which eases the passage of sealed commercial loads. Storage fees at the Saudi crossing begin after three days, so any delay in the papers becomes a cost.
How long does shipping from Abu Dhabi to Saudi cities take?
Road freight from Abu Dhabi takes 2 to 3 days to Dammam, Khobar and Al-Ahsa, 3 to 4 days to Riyadh, 4 to 5 days to Qassim and 5 to 6 days to Jeddah, Makkah and Madinah, plus a day or two for shared loads.
| From Abu Dhabi to | Time by dedicated truck | Most requested by |
|---|---|---|
| Dammam, Khobar, Dhahran | 2 to 3 days | energy-sector families and companies |
| Jubail and Ras Tanura | 2 to 3 days | industrial-city employees |
| Al-Ahsa | 2 to 3 days | families and farms |
| Riyadh | 3 to 4 days | regional headquarters and staff |
| Qassim | 4 to 5 days | families |
| Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah | 5 to 6 days | families and offices |
| Abha, Tabuk, Jazan | 6 to 7 days | families |
The Eastern Province is the quickest destination from Abu Dhabi: after Al Batha the truck turns north along the coastal road and reaches Dammam over a relatively short distance. Riyadh comes next, via Al-Ahsa. Anyone heading to Jeddah has the longest leg inside the Kingdom, yet still gains a day compared with shipping from the northern emirates.
Relocating families and staff from Abu Dhabi to the Eastern Province and Riyadh

Moving home furniture from Abu Dhabi to Saudi Arabia starts from SAR 950 and covers dismantling, packing, inventory and reassembly, and second-hand household furniture pays no Saudi duty when it serves your family and lands within half a year of your move.
Many families relocating from Abu Dhabi to the Kingdom are tied to the energy and industrial sectors and head for Dhahran, Khobar and Jubail or for Riyadh. Most move on a work contract with a fixed start date, so they need the furniture to arrive before work begins or within a few days of it. Abu Dhabi’s closeness to the border helps a great deal here: a truck leaving Khalifa City can be outside your home in Khobar within two or three days.
Who qualifies? Newcomers taking up residence for the first time, shown by a work visa or iqama, and Saudi nationals coming home after half a year or more abroad. Belongings must serve the household, originate where you lived and land inside the six-month window; vehicles never count.
In residential compounds in Dhahran, Khobar and some industrial cities, an entry permit for the truck and crew is usually required before delivery day. Tell us the compound name early so we can send the truck, driver and crew details to compound management and the truck is not held at the gate.
Office and company relocations from Abu Dhabi to the Kingdom
Relocating an office from Abu Dhabi to Saudi Arabia covers dismantling office furniture, packing equipment and files and numbering them by department, then shipping on a dedicated truck and setting up at the new premises, priced after an office survey.
When a company moves all or part of its office from Abu Dhabi to Riyadh or the Eastern Province, the job differs from a home move in three ways. The first is order: every carton is numbered by department and employee so it is unpacked in the right place at the new office. The second is equipment: computers, servers and printers are wrapped in shock-absorbing, anti-static materials and moved in a fixed position. The third is timing: many companies prefer to move at the weekend so work does not stop.
On the customs side, office furniture and equipment owned by a company are not covered by the personal-effects exemption, which is for individuals. They are declared as used goods at their value and need an importer in the Kingdom with a commercial registration, with the clearing agent assessing duty by tariff line and invoices. We recommend a detailed inventory of equipment with serial numbers, as it makes clearance and matching easier.
Sensitive paper files go into closed, sealed boxes and stay with the consignment until delivery. Urgent equipment or important documents can go by air ahead of the truck so your team can start work at the new office sooner.
Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra areas we collect from
We collect throughout Abu Dhabi emirate, on the island, in the suburbs, in Al Ain and in the Western Region:
Collection from Ruwais and Al Sila is the shortest of all, as they lie on the same road near the border and a truck from there is at Ghuwaifat within an hour or two. Al Ain is a little further from the border than Abu Dhabi city, but still closer than Dubai and the northern emirates. In Mussafah and the Khalifa Economic Zones we collect goods and equipment from warehouses and factories.
Shipping from Al Ain to Saudi Arabia
Shipping from Al Ain to Saudi Arabia follows the same procedure through the same crossing, Ghuwaifat then Al Batha, but the truck takes Al Dhafra’s inland roads south-west of the city instead of passing through Abu Dhabi city, and prices start at the same levels as Abu Dhabi.
Al Ain is a spread-out city with a different character from the capital; its homes are mostly ground-level villas with gardens and palm trees, and many families have large majlis rooms and heavy wooden furniture. Loading in these homes is easier than in towers because the truck parks at the door, but it needs more crew for the heavy pieces. Al Ain also borders Oman at Hili and Mezyad, and some assume shipping to the Kingdom goes that way, but it does not pass through Oman; it heads west inside the UAE to Ghuwaifat.
Al Ain’s farms and gardens are full of date palms, and customers sometimes ask about shipping palm offshoots or seedlings. These are live plants subject to agricultural quarantine and can only ship with prior permits from the authorities in both countries, whereas packed dates in personal quantities normally ship with your belongings. Air freight from Al Ain is also possible via Al Ain International or Zayed International depending on flights.
Shipping cars from Abu Dhabi to Saudi Arabia

Abu Dhabi car shipments run from SAR 2,090 on an open deck and SAR 4,250 under cover; the vehicle must be among models no more than five years from manufacture, have its steering on the left and obtain a shipment certificate of conformity from the SABER platform.
In Abu Dhabi the process starts with cancelling the car’s registration and obtaining an export certificate and export plates after fines are paid, then preparing the purchase invoice or sale contract and your ID. The Kingdom refuses vehicles that were flooded, burnt or badly crashed, and anything that served as a taxi or police car. At Al Batha the charges are calculated: 5% of the assessed value as customs duty, then 15% tax on the value plus duty.
Because Abu Dhabi is so close to the border, many people ask about driving the car into the Kingdom themselves rather than shipping it. For a temporary visit and return, that is possible with the car’s papers and valid insurance inside the Kingdom. But if you will keep it in the Kingdom and register it, that is an import subject to all the conditions and charges above, whether it arrives on a carrier or you drive it in. Both cases are explained on our car shipping page.
Sea freight from Khalifa Port
Containers from Abu Dhabi sail out of Khalifa Port for Dammam or Jeddah, a twenty-foot unit priced from SAR 1,900, and suits heavy goods and full loads more than household furniture.
Khalifa Port is part of a large industrial and economic zone between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, with many factories and warehouses exporting in containers. To Dammam specifically the voyage is short, but road from Abu Dhabi is also very fast, so the comparison usually favours the truck except for very heavy loads. To Jeddah, the sea can be an economical option for full containers because it saves trucking across the entire Kingdom.
Air freight from Zayed International Airport

Air freight from Abu Dhabi to Saudi Arabia leaves Zayed International Airport or Al Ain airport, from SAR 46 per kg, reaching Riyadh, Jeddah or Dammam in two to four days from pickup to handover.
Although road from Abu Dhabi is fast, air still helps in specific cases: documents you need on your first working day, a laptop you cannot work without, or trade samples for an imminent meeting. The cost is based on the higher of real and volumetric weight, the latter found by multiplying length, width and height in centimetres and dividing by 6,000. Details are on our air freight page.
Documents required for shipping from Abu Dhabi
The documents for shipping from Abu Dhabi to Saudi Arabia are split between the UAE side and the Saudi side, and we gather all of them before loading:
| Consignment | UAE side | Saudi side |
|---|---|---|
| Furniture and luggage | inventory, advance declaration and transit permit | passport, iqama and evidence of first residence when claiming the exemption |
| Car | export certificate and plates after fines are paid | SABER certificate, invoice, ID and charges |
| Company office furniture and equipment | detailed list with serial numbers | importer CR, invoices and duty assessment |
| Commercial goods | invoice, packing list, certificate of origin | Fasah declaration and SABER or SFDA certificates |
Keep in mind that the Gulf exemption covers only UAE-manufactured goods with 40% or more local content, backed by a Gulf origin certificate; goods imported and re-exported from Abu Dhabi pay the usual duty and 15% VAT.
Prohibited and restricted items
Never allowed into the Kingdom: alcohol, pig products, narcotics, gambling equipment, and weapons, ammunition and explosives without a licence. Allowed under conditions: medicines with a prescription and in personal quantities, drones with a permit, wireless devices with type approval, plants and seeds with agricultural quarantine approval, and pets with a health certificate and permit.
Items we see in Abu Dhabi homes that need attention include camping and desert-trip gear, gas cylinders among it, fishing equipment, and unfamiliar imported food and drink. Gas cylinders ship only empty, and food only in small, commercially packed quantities.
Delivery across Saudi cities

Abu Dhabi loads reach Dammam, Khobar, Dhahran, Jubail, Ras Tanura and Al-Ahsa first, then Riyadh and Qassim, west to Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah and Taif, south to Abha and Jazan and north to Tabuk.
In Dammam and Khobar we reach districts and compounds such as Al Shati, Al Rakah, Al Aqrabiyah and the Golden Belt, and in Riyadh the northern and eastern districts. We call before arriving to confirm the time and where the truck can stop, then assemble the furniture and check the cartons against the inventory. For offices, we unpack cartons into departments according to their numbering.
