Saudi Express ships your luggage and furniture from Madinah to Qatar by road in closed trucks through the Salwa crossing, the only land border between Saudi Arabia and Qatar, entering at Qatar’s Abu Samra post and delivering to your address in Doha, Al Rayyan, Al Wakrah or elsewhere. We prepare the packing list and papers with you before loading, then pack, load, clear and deliver. A dedicated truck usually takes 5 to 8 days, a single bedroom starts from SAR 1,430, and vehicles are moved on their own carrier. Phone or WhatsApp: 0560533140.

What documents do you need to ship from Madinah to Qatar?
The file needs the sender’s ID or iqama copy, the recipient’s Qatar ID (or passport with residence permit), and a detailed packing list naming every carton and its contents. These three usually cover personal belongings and used furniture; commercial goods also need an invoice and certificate of origin.
The packing list is the most important paper in the file, because customs at Abu Samra match the load against it. We write it with you on loading day: every carton gets a number and a short description such as “children’s clothes” or “glass kitchenware”, and furniture is listed piece by piece. The recipient’s name must match their ID or passport letter for letter; a small spelling difference can hold up delivery.
If someone other than the owner will receive in Qatar, such as a brother or friend, say so from the start and send a copy of their ID. If the owner arrives later, ask about storing the shipment until then.
Put your file in one message
Send on WhatsApp your ID copy, the recipient’s ID copy, their Qatar address as a map link and their Qatari mobile number. A complete file from day one saves at least a full day.
Shipping prices from Madinah to Qatar
A single bedroom starts at SAR 1,430, a flat with two bedrooms at SAR 3,990, and one groupage carton at SAR 46. The final figure depends on volume, truck type (dedicated or groupage) and whether you want dismantling and reassembly or transport only.
Many people moving to Qatar for work take only suitcases and a few appliances and buy furniture there; groupage suits them. If your furniture is new or valuable, moving it all makes sense, especially bedrooms and majlis sets that are hard to replace at the same price.
| Service | What it includes | From (SAR) |
|---|---|---|
| Suitcase or carton | Sealed, numbered personal luggage in groupage | 46 |
| Single bedroom | Dismantle, pack, ship and reassemble in Qatar | 1,430 |
| Two-bedroom flat | Furniture, appliances and kitchen | 3,990 |
| Fridge or washer | Single appliance, wrapped | 325 |
| Split AC | Both units, gas recovered | 280 |
| Car | Carrier through Salwa to Doha | Ask for the price by phone or WhatsApp |
| Air freight | Urgent suitcases and papers | Ask for the price by phone or WhatsApp |
How does a shipment get from Madinah to Qatar?
It travels east by road through Riyadh and Al-Ahsa to the Salwa crossing; after Saudi exit formalities the truck crosses to Abu Samra and drives about 100 km on to Doha. Qatar’s only land link with Saudi Arabia is this crossing, so every Qatar-bound truck passes through it.
Because there is only one crossing, queues change with the season and build up before holidays. We aim to reach the border early with complete papers so the truck does not lose a day waiting. For truck types, see our land shipping page.
How long does shipping from Madinah to Qatar take?
Shipping from Madinah to Qatar usually takes 5 to 8 days for a dedicated truck: a day of loading, two to three days on the road, a day or more at Salwa and Abu Samra, and a day for delivery inside Qatar.
| Stage | Location | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Packing and loading | Your home in Madinah | One day |
| Road transit | Madinah, Riyadh, Al-Ahsa | Two to three days |
| Crossing and inspection | Salwa, then Abu Samra | A day or more depending on season |
| Delivery and assembly | Doha, Al Rayyan, Al Wakrah and others | One day |
Groupage is slower by nature because it waits for other shipments, but it works well if you do not need your things on a fixed day.

Shipping luggage and personal belongings from Madinah to Qatar
For a limited number of suitcases and cartons, groupage by road is the sensible choice; for urgent, light luggage, use air. Soft suitcases do not stand up to stacking in trucks, so we put them inside cartons or wrap them in heavy film first.
Keep one category per carton where possible: clothes in one, books in another, kitchen items in a third. It makes the list easier to write and easier for customs to read. Laptops and cameras are better in your hand luggage, or shipped by air with their own packing.
Air freight from Madinah to Qatar
Air freight suits suitcases, documents and small devices, normally landing within two to four days, subject to flight schedules and collection steps in Doha. It costs more than road and is charged on the higher of actual and volumetric weight.
To find volumetric weight, multiply the parcel’s dimensions in centimetres and divide by 6000. A large 75 × 50 × 30 cm suitcase comes to about 18.75 kg volumetric; if it actually weighs 20 kg, you pay for 20. Air is therefore economical for small heavy items and costly for large light ones. Details are on our air shipping page.
Car shipping from Madinah to Qatar
A car goes on a carrier through Salwa and Abu Samra and is delivered in Doha or wherever you choose. Before booking, know the age rule: Qatar requires imported light vehicles to be no more than five years from their manufacture date, with left-hand drive.
Customs duty on cars in Qatar is generally 5% of the customs value, which includes the car’s price, freight and insurance. Cars are excluded from the personal-effects exemption available to people relocating, so they are assessed separately. You will need the registration, proof of ownership and a no-objection letter from any finance company.
We carry modern cars on enclosed carriers and photograph them before loading and after delivery. Carrier types are compared on the car shipping page.

Preparing and packing furniture for Qatar
Preparing furniture for Qatar means dismantling large pieces, wrapping each in layers that suit its material and recording it on the packing list before it goes on the truck. The load may be opened or inspected at the border, and tidy packing makes inspection quicker and reduces the chance of wrapping being cut.
Beds and wardrobes are dismantled, panels wrapped in blankets and screws bagged with the piece number. Sofas get film first, then board on the arms and legs. Glass is lifted off tables and wrapped alone. Kitchenware is wrapped piece by piece in packing paper and placed in small cartons that stay easy to carry.

Qatari customs and personal belongings
Used furniture and personal belongings are usually treated by Qatari customs as personal effects when they are clearly for the owner’s own use, but cars are excluded from that exemption and pay their duty. New appliances in their boxes, in large numbers, may require invoices.
Qatari customs may ask for Arabic translations of some documents or for originals, especially for commercial loads. Because rules can change, we check current requirements for each shipment and tell you about any extra paper before loading, not after.
What cannot be shipped to Qatar?
Entry of alcohol, pork products, narcotics, weapons and ammunition into Qatar is banned, while flammables, gas cylinders and damaged batteries must not travel with furniture. Medicines beyond personal use need a prescription, and drones need a permit.
Printed matter and devices
Books and printed material may be reviewed at the border, as may some communication devices. If you have these in quantity, ask us before packing them.
Commercial cargo from Madinah to Qatar
Commercial goods go as a full truck or groupage space and need a commercial invoice, certificate of origin, any conformity certificate required, and a registered importer in Qatar. Dates and other Madinah products are common on this route and need packing that protects them from heat.
Delivery in Qatar: unloading, assembly and checks
After the truck leaves Abu Samra, the driver calls the recipient to confirm the address and arrival time. At the door the team unloads in reverse loading order, heavy cartons first and furniture after, and checks each number on the list in front of you.
The team then assembles beds, wardrobes and tables and rehangs mirrors where the walls allow. Air conditioners need a technician in Qatar to install them and refill the gas, and appliances, especially the fridge after a long trip, should rest a few hours before switching on.
Insurance can be arranged before loading for a value you set, and photos of valuable pieces make any later note clear. If you spot a mark on an item, write it on your copy of the list and photograph it before the team leaves.
If the shipment arrives before your Qatar home is ready
Furniture sometimes arrives before the owner has the keys in Doha or before residence is issued; there is no need to delay loading in Madinah. Your things can go into furniture storage, packed and numbered, until everything is ready, and we then set the delivery date. This also helps if you must hand back your Madinah home on a fixed date.
Mistakes that slow the Salwa crossing
- A vague packing list such as “household items” with no carton detail.
- A recipient name spelled differently from the Qatar ID.
- Many new boxed appliances with no invoices, treated as trade goods.
- Large quantities of perfume and aerosols in one carton.
- A car older than five years shipped with the aim of registering it in Qatar.
Cities we deliver to in Qatar
We deliver from Madinah to Doha, Al Rayyan, Al Wakrah, Al Khor, Lusail, Umm Salal, Mesaieed, Al Shamal and the rest of Qatar. Most shipments go to Doha and Al Rayyan, which the team reaches the same day the truck leaves Abu Samra.

Districts we collect from in Madinah
Our crews pick up anywhere in Madinah: Al Khalidiyah, Al Awali, Al Anabis, Quba, Shoran, Sultanah, Al Aqoul, Al Difa, Al Jurf, Al Harrah Al Gharbiyah and Al Aziziyah among others, plus the governorates of Badr, Yanbu, Al Mahd, Khaybar, AlUla and Al Hinakiyah. If your building has no lift, tell us the floor so we bring enough crew.
What sets the price of your Qatar shipment?
Five things: volume in cubic metres, dedicated or groupage truck, how many pieces need dismantling and assembly, floor and access, and the area in Qatar. Doha, Al Rayyan and Al Wakrah are close together, while Al Khor and Al Shamal add delivery time.
The biggest saving comes from early sorting: old furniture you will not need in Qatar costs you twice, once to ship and again to dispose of. Booking two weeks ahead also lets us place your load on the next suitable truck rather than an urgent one.
What should you do before loading day?
Prepare three things: papers, valuables and the home itself. Papers mean your ID copy, the recipient’s Qatar ID and mobile number. Keep gold, passports, medicines and certificates in a bag that travels with you. Empty and dry the fridge, take down curtains you want shipped, and tell the building guard when the truck is coming. Mark anything staying in Madinah, and have a family member stay with the team throughout loading to answer questions and check the list.
