Saudi Express is a shipping company from Riyadh to Kuwait that carries furniture, cars, cargo and boxes by road in closed trucks, through the Al Ruqi crossing in Hafr Al Batin, which faces Kuwait’s Al Salmi crossing, or through Khafji and Al Nuwaiseeb when the destination is southern Kuwait. We collect from your Riyadh home or warehouse, complete clearance on both sides and deliver to Kuwait City, Hawalli, Farwaniya, Ahmadi, Jahra and Mubarak Al-Kabeer, usually within two to four days. Prices start from SAR 185 per box, SAR 650 for furniture and SAR 1,100 for a car. Call or WhatsApp 0560533140.
- Main crossing: Al Ruqi in Hafr Al Batin, facing Al Salmi in Kuwait
- Alternative: Khafji facing Al Nuwaiseeb, better for southern Kuwait
- Transit: two to four days for furniture and cargo; air in one to two days
- Prices: boxes from SAR 185, furniture from SAR 650, cars from SAR 1,100
- Cars: Kuwait bans importing vehicles 10 years or more past manufacture
- Tax: no VAT in Kuwait; 5% customs duty on non-exempt goods
Riyadh to Kuwait is one of the shortest Gulf lanes from the capital, but it is unusual: it has two roads and two crossings, Kuwait is strict about the age of imported cars, and summer on the Hafr Al Batin road is hard on furniture and appliances. This guide explains all of that plainly, with prices, transit times, paperwork and what is not allowed, so you know what your shipment will face before it moves.
Shipping prices from Riyadh to Kuwait
Shipping from Riyadh to Kuwait starts from SAR 185 for a box or suitcase, SAR 650 for economy furniture moving, SAR 880 for full service with dismantling, packing and reassembly, and SAR 1,100 for a car on a multi-car carrier.
We price furniture at three levels so you can match your budget. Economy means your wrapped pieces travel on a shared truck without reassembly in Kuwait; full service means a carpenter dismantles and packs in Riyadh and reassembles in Kuwait; and a whole home gets a truck of its own. The difference is not in how carefully pieces are handled but in the added services and how fast the truck leaves.
Starting prices on the Riyadh to Kuwait lane:
| Shipment | What it includes | Starts from (SAR) |
|---|---|---|
| Box or suitcase | Shared transport to the receiver’s door | 185 |
| Economy furniture | Wrapped pieces on a shared truck, no reassembly | 650 |
| Full-service furniture | Dismantling, packing, transport, reassembly | 880 |
| Bedroom | Bed, wardrobe and dresser with dismantling and refit | 1,100 |
| Small full apartment | Dedicated truck with crew and delivery | 3,250 |
| Car, multi-car carrier | Sedan or family car | 1,100 |
| Car, private flatbed | Faster single-car transport | 2,300 |
| Car, enclosed carrier | Luxury, electric or new cars | 4,150 |
| Large commercial loads | Per kilo for heavy loads | 2.75 per kg |
| Air freight | Documents and urgent parcels | Ask for the price by call or WhatsApp |
The price we send you is in writing on WhatsApp and states what it covers: dismantling and reassembly, clearance fees, delivery to an upper floor. If the volume on loading day differs from what was agreed, we tell you the difference before the truck is closed, not after it arrives.
How long does shipping from Riyadh to Kuwait take?
On the Kuwait lane, furniture and cargo spend two to four days between the loading bay in Riyadh and the receiver’s door, two to five days for parcels on a shared truck, and one to two days by air.
The longest part of the trip is the border, not the road. A truck from Riyadh reaches Hafr Al Batin in hours, but export at Al Ruqi and then import and inspection at Al Salmi can take from a few hours to a full day depending on traffic and the type of load. Crossings tend to be busy before Eid and at weekends, so if your shipment is not urgent, pick mid-week.
| Shipment | Method | Usual transit |
|---|---|---|
| Whole home | Dedicated truck | Two to three days |
| Furniture pieces and boxes | Shared truck | Three to five days |
| Car | Multi-car carrier or flatbed | Two to four days |
| Commercial cargo | Full or part load | Two to four days |
| Documents and small parcels | Air | One to two days |
Which crossing: Al Ruqi or Khafji?
Most shipments from Riyadh to Kuwait cross at Al Ruqi in Hafr Al Batin and then Kuwait’s Al Salmi crossing; some go via Dammam to Khafji and then Al Nuwaiseeb when the destination is Ahmadi or Fahaheel, or when the truck also collects loads in the Eastern Province.
Al Ruqi is the natural route from Riyadh: the truck heads north through Al Majmaah to Hafr Al Batin and the crossing, which after its redevelopment handles around two thousand trucks a day. After Al Salmi the truck passes Jahra and enters Kuwait City and the governorates. Khafji is the oldest crossing between the two countries, on the coastal strip, and suits shipments that first pass through Dammam or Jubail, or that deliver in southern Kuwait near Ahmadi and Wafra.
| Route | Road | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Al Ruqi to Al Salmi | Riyadh, Al Majmaah, Hafr Al Batin, Al Ruqi, Jahra | Capital, Jahra, Farwaniya, Hawalli |
| Khafji to Al Nuwaiseeb | Riyadh, Dammam, Jubail, Khafji, Wafra | Ahmadi, Fahaheel, Mangaf, Khairan |
You do not need to choose the crossing yourself; tell us the Kuwait delivery address and we pick the shortest, least congested route on the day.
Road freight to Kuwait: dedicated or shared truck?
A dedicated truck leaves as soon as it is loaded and suits a whole home or a lot of cargo; a shared truck combines several customers’ shipments and suits a few pieces and boxes at a lower price and slightly longer transit.
We use closed dynas and trucks of different lengths for different loads, each with tie-down straps and a timber floor that absorbs vibration. The question we ask to decide: do you need the shipment on a specific day? If yes, dedicated suits you; if you have two or three days of flexibility, shared saves money. Truck and load details are on our land freight page.
Air freight from Riyadh to Kuwait
Air freight from Riyadh to Kuwait flies from King Khalid International Airport to Kuwait International Airport in one to two days, suits documents, phones, small devices and samples, and you pay on the greater of the real weight and the size-based weight.

Because the road to Kuwait is relatively short, air is only worth it when hours matter: a contract to sign tomorrow, a spare part for a stopped machine in a Shuaiba factory, or a passport left behind in Riyadh. Volumetric weight is usually the three dimensions in centimetres multiplied and divided by 6000, so a large light parcel is charged on size. Items with big lithium batteries or flammable contents are refused on aircraft or accepted only under conditions. Details on our air freight page.
Furniture moving from Riyadh to Kuwait
Furniture moving from Riyadh to Kuwait starts from SAR 650 for wrapped pieces on a shared truck, SAR 1,100 for a bedroom with dismantling and reassembly, and SAR 3,250 for a small full apartment on a dedicated truck.

The Hafr Al Batin road in summer is one of the hottest in the region, and a closed truck keeps out sun and dust but not heat. So we wrap wood in fabric blankets before stretch film so the plastic does not stick to the finish, give natural leather a breathable cover, and pack candles, perfumes and cosmetics in one sealed box away from fabrics so nothing melts onto them. Appliances are emptied and dried the day before loading.
- Bedrooms: beds and wardrobes dismantled, screws kept in numbered bags taped to each piece.
- Kitchens: cabinets removed and numbered, stone tops protected with a timber frame.
- Majlis and sofas: fabric covers then stretch film; cushions bagged.
- Appliances: TVs upright in their boxes; the fridge upright and not switched on until hours after arrival.
- Antiques and glass: bubble wrap and corners; chandeliers in padded wooden crates.
AC units are a topic of their own: a split unit is removed by a technician who pumps its gas into the outdoor unit and caps the pipes, and it is refitted in Kuwait by a technician too. Window units travel as they are once wrapped. A kitchen built for one particular wall is worth moving only if the kitchen in your Kuwait home is a similar size; otherwise it is cheaper to sell it in Riyadh and buy or build one there. We give you an honest view after the survey.
In Kuwait we reassemble in the order you set and take the packing away. If your building has a small lift, as many in Hawalli and Salmiya do, we dismantle large pieces before going up and assemble them inside the flat.
Car shipping from Riyadh to Kuwait
Shipping a car from Riyadh to Kuwait starts from SAR 1,100 on a multi-car carrier, SAR 2,300 on a private flatbed and SAR 4,150 on an enclosed carrier, provided Kuwait accepts it: vehicles 10 years or more past manufacture are banned from import.

The ban on importing vehicles ten years past manufacture was issued by Kuwait’s Ministry of Commerce, and the minister may grant exceptions in the public interest. In practice, count your car’s age from the manufacture date on the chassis plate rather than the model year, and check before you get the export certificate, because a car refused at Al Salmi comes back carrying the cost of both trips.
Papers for shipping a car to Kuwait
- Valid original registration card, with no fines or liens on the car.
- Export certificate from Saudi traffic authorities and plates surrendered for a permanent export.
- Copy of the owner’s ID or iqama, and an electronic authorisation if the shipper is not the owner.
- Copy of the receiver’s Kuwaiti Civil ID to complete registration there.
If you will drive the car to Kuwait and bring it back, that is a temporary crossing rather than shipping, needing valid insurance in Kuwait and an authorisation if the car is not in your name. For electric cars we ask for the battery at 30 to 50 percent. More on our car shipping page.
Cargo and online-store shipments to Kuwait
Cargo from Riyadh to Kuwait moves as a full or part load, starts from SAR 2.75 per kilo for large loads, and needs a commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and a valid commercial registration.
Kuwait is an active market for Saudi products: foodstuffs and canned goods, building materials, office furniture, spare parts and online-store orders from Kuwaiti customers. Saudi or GCC-origin goods with a correct certificate of origin are treated as national products, while non-GCC goods may pay 5% of their value including freight and insurance. Some items need conformity or registration with Kuwaiti food and health authorities, so check before shipping.
Office and equipment moves from Riyadh to Kuwait
An office move from Riyadh to Kuwait covers dismantling desks, chairs and filing cabinets, wrapping and numbering computers and screens by department, and setting them up at the new premises; it is priced by office size, so ask for the price by call or WhatsApp.
A company opening a branch in Kuwait or moving its management there needs staff back at work quickly. So we plan the move after Thursday closing, for example, label every desk, chair and device with the department and new room number, pack devices in padded boxes and photograph their rear connections before unplugging so they can be reconnected exactly. Paper files go into sealed boxes with the range of contents written on each.
Light industrial equipment, generators and small machines travel on flatbed or closed trucks depending on how sensitive they are, need an invoice and certificate of origin like any cargo, and some need a crane at loading or unloading in industrial areas such as Shuaiba and Sulaibiya. Send us the weight, dimensions and photos so we can pick the truck.
Gifts, dates and food to Kuwait
Packed dates, wrapped sweets, coffee and spices can go to Kuwait in personal quantities on a road load; commercial quantities need Kuwaiti food requirements and certificates of origin.
During Ramadan and Eid many Riyadh families send gifts to relatives in Kuwait: boxes of Sukkari and Khalas dates, Saudi coffee, trays of wrapped sweets. These arrive in good condition when tightly packed and not quickly perishable. Meat and cooked food we do not carry on ordinary trucks; they need refrigeration and special conditions.
Parcels, boxes and suitcases to Kuwait
Boxes and suitcases from Riyadh to Kuwait start from SAR 185 per piece on shared transport and reach the receiver’s door in any governorate in three to five days.
These shipments are common for families split between the two countries: a mother in Riyadh sending her son at Kuwait University his clothes and books, or an employee who moved to Kuwait and needs personal things before the furniture arrives. Write the receiver’s name, Kuwaiti number and area on every box, fill the box without gaps so it does not crush under others, and keep cash and gold out of it.
Documents and customs clearance in Kuwait
For personal effects and used furniture going to Kuwait you need copies of the receiver’s passport, Kuwaiti residence and Civil ID, a detailed packing list, and the sender’s Saudi ID or iqama copy.
Under the customs law shared by the GCC states, a person settling in a member state for the first time, or a citizen coming home, can bring used household furniture and personal belongings without duty, provided they are used, for personal use and arrive within six months of their owner; vehicles are excluded. In Kuwait the shipment is assessed on arrival, anything not covered by the exemption pays 5% of its value including freight, and there is no VAT.
What happens to the shipment at Al Salmi?
The truck reaches the Saudi side at Al Ruqi, where the export declaration is completed and stamped, then crosses to Al Salmi, where the Kuwaiti import declaration is filed with the packing list and ID copies. The truck is then directed to inspection: an X-ray scan with the load inside, opening the doors to check sample boxes, or in a few cases unloading part of the load. The customs officer decides based on the type of shipment and how clear its papers are. Any duty is calculated and paid, release is issued, and the truck continues to Jahra and on to the address. Every one of these steps goes faster when the list is detailed and the papers are complete before the truck arrives, not after.
That is why we ask for papers before loading day and review them with the broker in Kuwait before the truck leaves Riyadh; if something is missing, we find out while still in Riyadh rather than at the border.
The receiver’s Kuwaiti Civil ID is the key document in the file; if it has not been issued yet, tell us before booking so we can time the move after it is.
Prohibited and restricted items for Kuwait
Alcohol, narcotics, weapons, ammunition, flammables and counterfeit goods cannot enter Kuwait, and medicines, radio transmitters and drones are restricted to permits from Kuwaiti authorities.
- Gas cylinders even when empty, petrol, paints, solvents and fireworks.
- Medicines in quantity or controlled drugs without a prescription and approval.
- Printed or other material that offends public morals.
- Meat and perishable food on shared road loads.
- Cash, gold, jewellery and original documents travel with their owner, not in the load.
A truck found carrying a prohibited item at Al Salmi may be held in full until it is resolved, delaying every other customer on a shared load. When in doubt about any item, send us a photo of it first.
Areas we deliver to in Kuwait
We deliver from Riyadh to all six governorates of Kuwait: the Capital, Hawalli, Farwaniya, Ahmadi, Jahra and Mubarak Al-Kabeer, including residential and industrial areas.

| Governorate | Example delivery areas | Usual route |
|---|---|---|
| Capital | Kuwait City, Shuwaikh, Dasma, Kaifan, Sulaibikhat | Al Ruqi to Al Salmi |
| Hawalli | Salmiya, Jabriya, Rumaithiya, Mishref, Bayan | Al Ruqi to Al Salmi |
| Farwaniya | Khaitan, Ardiya, Rabia, Andalus | Al Ruqi to Al Salmi |
| Jahra | Jahra, Saad Al Abdullah, Oyoun, Waha | Al Ruqi to Al Salmi |
| Ahmadi | Fahaheel, Mangaf, Sabahiya, Sabah Al Ahmad, Shuaiba | Khafji to Al Nuwaiseeb or Al Ruqi |
| Mubarak Al-Kabeer | Sabah Al Salem, Adan, Qurain, Messila | Depends on the trip schedule |
Delivery in Kuwait has small details that save time: addresses are written by block, street, avenue and house number, so ask the receiver to send them in full with a map pin. In apartment areas such as Hawalli, Salmiya and Khaitan parking is tight, so we deliver at quieter hours. In newer southern residential areas such as Sabah Al Ahmad and Khairan we confirm before arrival that the road to the house is finished and fit for a truck.
See all our Kuwait services on the shipping to Kuwait page. If you ship from another Saudi city, every pickup route is in shipping from Saudi Arabia to Kuwait, and from the west coast see shipping from Jeddah to Kuwait.

Tips before shipping from Riyadh to Kuwait
Our key advice: confirm your car’s age before shipping it, prepare the receiver’s Civil ID, and avoid the days before Eid if you are not in a hurry.
- In summer, put candles, perfumes and creams in a separate sealed box because they melt in the heat.
- Write an active Kuwaiti number on every box; the driver calls on entering the area.
- Do not ship furniture you will replace in Kuwait; truck space has a price.
- Keep a photo of the packing list on your phone and check against it on delivery.
- For cargo: check the HS code and certificate of origin before the truck leaves.
If you are comparing Gulf destinations from Riyadh, shipping from Riyadh to Qatar passes a single crossing at Salwa and has its own paperwork.
