Saudi Express moves your belongings and furniture from any Saudi city to Tunisia by sea, in containers that usually leave Jeddah Islamic Port and arrive at Radès near Tunis or at Sfax and Sousse. We dismantle, pack and inventory in Saudi Arabia, clear Tunisian customs and deliver to your governorate, with car shipping and an air option for parcels. A sea shipment normally takes 4 to 6 weeks to your door, and moving a bedroom starts from SAR 3,110. Call or WhatsApp 0560533140.

How does a shipment get from Saudi Arabia to Tunisia?
Shipments from Saudi Arabia to Tunisia travel by sea: the container is loaded in your city, trucked to Jeddah Islamic Port on the Red Sea, passes through the Suez Canal into the Mediterranean and arrives at Radès, south of Tunis, from where goods are distributed to the governorates. There is no practical road route to Tunisia, and air is limited to light weights.
Not every line to Tunisia sails direct from Jeddah. Many call at a Mediterranean hub where the container is moved onto a smaller feeder vessel serving Tunisian ports. That is a normal part of the trip and the container stays sealed throughout. What matters to you is the expected arrival at Radès, which we send with the bill of lading number after sailing.
Eastern Province cities can ship from King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam when a suitable line exists, but the Dammam route is longer because it goes around the Arabian Peninsula, so trucking the container to Jeddah is often faster. We compare both when booking and choose whichever arrives sooner.
| Stage | From and to | Approximate time |
|---|---|---|
| Pickup and packing | Your home in Saudi Arabia | 1 to 2 days |
| To the port | Your city to Jeddah Islamic Port or Dammam | 1 to 4 days |
| Sailing | Jeddah, Suez Canal, the Mediterranean, Radès | 3 to 5 weeks including transhipment |
| Tunisian customs | Declaration and inspection at Radès | 3 to 7 working days |
| Distribution and delivery | Radès to your governorate | 1 to 3 days |
Shipping prices from Saudi Arabia to Tunisia by home size
Shipping from Saudi Arabia to Tunisia starts from SAR 3,110 for a single bedroom, SAR 8,740 for a two-bedroom flat, SAR 14,180 for a three-bedroom flat and SAR 22,970 for a medium villa. These prices include dismantling, packing, loading, sea freight and delivery; any Tunisian customs duties are paid by the consignee there.
The difference between one room and another is volume. A single bedroom takes 6 to 9 cubic metres, a master bedroom 10 to 14, and a two-bedroom flat 16 to 24. Because sea freight is priced by space, cutting bulky, low-value heavy pieces lowers the bill noticeably.
| Service | Details | From (SAR) |
|---|---|---|
| Single bedroom | About 6 to 9 m³, dismantled, packed and delivered | 3,110 |
| Master bedroom | About 10 to 14 m³ | 4,790 |
| Studio or room and living room | About 8 to 12 m³ | 4,190 |
| Two-bedroom flat | About 16 to 24 m³ | 8,740 |
| Three-bedroom flat | About 25 to 38 m³ | 14,180 |
| Medium villa | About 40 to 60 m³ | 22,970 |
| Full 20 ft container | Sealed dedicated load from your home | 6,980 |
| Car | Inside a shared container, secured | 5,580 |
| Air freight | Parcels and luggage, per kg | 18 |
What raises or lowers the price of shipping to Tunisia?
The price of shipping to Tunisia rises with volume, the number of pieces needing wooden crates and difficult access to the home, and falls when you cut bulky items, accept shared freight and book early. Some of these factors are in your hands; others depend on the route and travel season.
- Volume in cubic metres: the main driver; every extra cubic metre counts in shared freight and can move you from a 20 ft to a 40 ft container.
- Container type: dedicated costs more for small loads but beats shared once you pass about 15 cubic metres.
- Wooden crates: marble, glass and antiques need made-to-measure crates, priced separately.
- Floor and lift: long staircases in Saudi Arabia or Tunisia add working time and crew.
- Governorate: delivery in Greater Tunis is shorter than to Gabès or Tataouine.
- Season: diaspora return seasons raise container demand and lengthen customs queues.
An example: a family moving a two-bedroom flat of about 20 cubic metres would pay from SAR 8,740 shared, while a dedicated 20 ft container starts from SAR 6,980 and holds about 33 cubic metres. Here the dedicated container is cheaper, faster and safer, because it is not unloaded at a consolidation warehouse before delivery. Someone sending one room and 10 boxes is clearly better off shared.
Single-item prices to Tunisia
If you are sending a few pieces rather than a whole home, these are the starting prices per item in a shared shipment:
| Item | Approximate volume | From (SAR) |
|---|---|---|
| Four-door wardrobe | 2.5 to 3.5 m³ | 1,440 |
| 9-piece Arabic majlis | 5 to 8 m³ | 2,930 |
| Fridge or washer | 1 to 1.5 m³ | 745 |
| Split air conditioner, both units | 0.6 to 0.9 m³ | 605 |
| 65-inch TV in a crate | 0.5 to 0.8 m³ | 465 |
| Standard carton | About 0.1 m³ | 93 |
💡 A precise price in minutes
Photograph each room from two angles and send the photos on WhatsApp with the governorate you are moving to. We work out the volume from the photos and send an itemised price.
How long does shipping from Saudi Arabia to Tunisia take?
Sea freight from Saudi Arabia to Tunisia usually takes 4 to 6 weeks from loading to delivery, and air freight 4 to 7 days. Tunisia has fewer direct lines than Morocco, so on average we allow about a week longer.
Three things stretch the time: waiting for a shared container to fill before sailing, the schedule of the feeder vessel from the hub to Radès, and customs congestion in the seasons when many Tunisians return from abroad. If your return is tied to the school year or a job contract, book loading early and ask for a dedicated container if the volume allows.
You can also split the shipment: what you need in the first month goes by air or in your suitcases, and the heavy furniture goes in the container. That way settling in is not held up waiting for the ship.
Returning to Tunisia needs early planning
Send us your travel date and the governorate where you will settle, and we will suggest a loading date so the container arrives at the right time.
Sea or air to Tunisia: a quick comparison
Sea freight to Tunisia is for large volumes, furniture and cars; air is for small urgent weights. The price gap is wide because sea is charged by the cubic metre and air by the kilo. This comparison helps you split your shipment between the two:
| Criterion | Sea freight | Air freight |
|---|---|---|
| Time to the door | 4 to 6 weeks | 4 to 7 days |
| Charged by | Cubic metre or container | Actual or volumetric kilo |
| From | SAR 93 per carton, SAR 6,980 per container | SAR 18 per kg |
| Suits | Furniture, appliances, cars and goods | Papers, clothes, books, small electronics |
| Arrives at | Radès, Sfax or Sousse | Tunis-Carthage Airport |
What we suggest to most families: one or two bags by air with what you need for the first month, and the rest in a sea container. That way you do not pay air rates on heavy items, and you do not wait for the ship to find your children’s clothes and books.
Shipping kitchens and electrical appliances to Tunisia
A fitted wooden kitchen is shipped to Tunisia after being taken apart unit by unit, each unit numbered on a simple plan so it can be refitted in the new home if the dimensions allow. We tell customers frankly that kitchens built for a Saudi flat do not always fit a Tunisian kitchen of different size, so shipping the appliances alone may be the better-value decision.
Appliances are drained, dried and their parts secured; gas cookers are disconnected and never shipped with a cylinder. Tunisia runs on 230 V at 50 Hz, and most modern appliances marked 50/60Hz work without a frequency converter, but check the label of any air conditioner built for 60 Hz only before paying to ship it.
Preparing furniture for the sea voyage to Tunisia
Preparing furniture for sea freight to Tunisia means full dismantling by technicians, packing that withstands weeks of sea humidity, and a numbered inventory in Arabic and French that Tunisian customs use during inspection. Furniture wrapped as for a move across town often arrives with swollen wood or musty fabric.

We start with the big pieces. Bedrooms are taken down to panels and each panel is wrapped in a blanket and then stretch film, with cardboard corner guards because corners are the first to suffer when lifted. Sofas and majlis seating get a moisture-proof cover and mattresses go in sealed bags. Glass, marble and mirrors go into made-to-measure wooden crates, because cardboard alone is not enough on a voyage with a ship-to-ship transfer.
The kitchen takes longer than people expect: every plate and glass is paper-wrapped, cartons are divided inside, and no box is loaded with heavy pans until its base gives way. Each carton is marked with its number and the room it belongs to in the new home, so the Tunisian delivery crew knows where to put it.
📋 Two-language inventory
A numbered list in Arabic and French matching the container piece by piece.
🪵 Wooden crates
For marble, glass, antiques, paintings and anything that cannot take pressure.
❄️ Air conditioners
Refrigerant recovered before removal, pipes capped, both units wrapped.
🔩 Screws and fittings
Numbered bags fixed to the piece itself so nothing is lost at assembly.
What to do before the loading crew arrives
Five small tasks before loading day save hours and make the inventory more accurate and the packing faster:
- Separate what stays in Saudi Arabia and mark it clearly so it is not packed by mistake.
- Empty the fridge and freezer two days ahead and leave them open to dry completely.
- Put documents, gold, medicines and personal devices in a bag that travels with you.
- Tell the building guard the truck time and book the lift if there is a booking system.
- Prepare copies of your passport, iqama and Tunisian ID card to attach to the inventory.
If you plan to sell some furniture, sell it before the survey rather than after, because the volume measured at the survey is what the price and container booking are based on.
Returning to Tunisia for good: the FCR scheme and personal effects
Tunisians living abroad who return permanently receive customs privileges on their personal effects and on one vehicle under the FCR scheme, provided they have lived at least two years outside Tunisia and have not used the scheme before. These privileges make shipping your home from Saudi Arabia far cheaper than buying everything again.
FCR conditions for the car
- Residence abroad: at least two years before your last entry into Tunisia, with no more than 183 days a year spent in Tunisia.
- Once only: the privilege is granted a single time.
- Vehicle age: no more than 5 years at import, a passenger car or utility vehicle up to 3.5 tonnes.
- Time limit: the vehicle is acquired within two years of the permanent return date, and the whole procedure takes several months.
- Age: at least 18, with married Tunisian women exempt from the age condition.
For personal effects and used furniture, customs ask for proof of residence abroad and ownership of the goods; if you cannot attend in person, you need a formal power of attorney signed at the Tunisian consulate in your country of residence. Because exemption details and value ceilings change with customs decisions, we review the current position with you before loading so the list is written in a way that protects your rights.
⚠️ Do not sell the car on arrival
A car imported under FCR stays exempt while its owner uses it; parting with it early can trigger all or part of the duties under regularisation. Factor this in before shipping an expensive car.
Car shipping from Saudi Arabia to Tunisia
Cars go from Saudi Arabia to Tunisia inside a container, either a shared container with other cars from SAR 5,580, or a dedicated 20 ft container for one car with some belongings. We do not rely on direct RoRo to Tunisia because few such lines run from the Red Sea, and a container protects the car better on a voyage with transhipment.

Before shipping, make sure the car’s age qualifies for FCR if you are returning for good; otherwise an older car is treated as an ordinary import with duties that can exceed its value. On the Saudi side you need the original registration, the owner’s ID, the vehicle export procedure completed with the traffic department and no outstanding fines. For general options see our car shipping page.
Inside the container the wheels are strapped, wooden chocks placed front and back, the negative battery terminal disconnected and about a quarter tank of fuel left. Packed belongings can fill the remaining space of a dedicated container if they are on the inventory and not placed inside the car itself.
Air freight from Saudi Arabia to Tunisia
Air freight from Saudi Arabia to Tunisia arrives in 4 to 7 days and starts from SAR 18 per kg, usually landing at Tunis-Carthage International Airport before delivery to your governorate. It suits official papers, books, clothes and small electronics, not furniture, because the price follows volumetric weight.

Air volumetric weight: length × width × height in centimetres divided by 6000. A large 80 × 50 × 30 cm bag counts as 20 kg, so if it actually weighs 15 kg you pay for 20. That is why we send dense small items by air and leave pillows, blankets and toys for the sea.
Loose lithium batteries, perfumes, sprays and lighters are not accepted in standard air freight, and medicines travel in personal quantities with their prescription. To see when air makes sense, read our air freight page.
Documents for clearance with Tunisian customs
To ship furniture to Tunisia you need a copy of your passport and Tunisian ID card, proof of residence in Saudi Arabia, a detailed inventory in Arabic and French, the bill of lading, a power of attorney for the broker, and the permanent-return privilege documents if you are claiming them. Commercial goods need an invoice, a certificate of origin and the Tunisian importer’s details.
| Document | When needed | Prepared by |
|---|---|---|
| Passport and ID card | All shipments | Customer |
| Saudi iqama or other proof of residence abroad | Furniture and return privileges | Customer |
| Detailed inventory | Furniture and effects | Saudi Express with the customer |
| Bill of lading | All sea shipments | Saudi Express |
| Consular power of attorney | If the owner is not present | Customer, from the Tunisian consulate |
| Commercial invoice and certificate of origin | Goods | Shipper |
On the Saudi side we file the export declaration on FASAH and send copies of the papers to the broker in Tunisia days before the container arrives, so the declaration starts as soon as it is discharged. Inspection at Radès may be by scanner or by opening the container, and having the consignee or their agent present speeds things up a lot.
Shipping commercial goods from Saudi Arabia to Tunisia
Commercial goods to Tunisia go in a full container or by consolidation, with a commercial invoice at real value, a packing list, a certificate of origin and the Tunisian importer’s details, and they pay customs duties according to their classification. Popular cargo on this line includes packaged dates, perfumes and incense by sea, clothing and spare parts.
The key rule is separation: goods on one declaration and furniture on another, even if they share a container. Mixing them makes customs treat the whole container as merchandise and loses the return privileges. We tell the Tunisian importer before shipping what they will be asked for at collection, so the container does not sit at Radès waiting for a document. For container types and how they are priced, see our sea freight page.
Insuring your shipment to Tunisia
Marine insurance for furniture to Tunisia is optional, priced as a share of the value you declare, and usually covers breakage and damage from transport accidents, sinking and fire. It generally excludes damage from packing done by the owner, gradual deterioration and valuables not listed on the inventory.
So declare a realistic value for each important piece, photograph appliances and valuables before packing, and let our crew pack whatever you want insured. If you notice anything at delivery, write it on the delivery receipt and photograph it on the spot; any claim is built on that.
What cannot be shipped to Tunisia?
Weapons, ammunition and replicas, narcotics, prohibited printed matter, flammables, plants, soil and perishable food cannot be shipped to Tunisia. Some items are restricted by licence or quantity, such as non-approved wireless devices and medicines in commercial amounts.
- Gas cylinders even when empty, petrol, oils and paints.
- Pesticides, chemicals and large amounts of concentrated cleaning products.
- Fresh and frozen food, and dates that are not commercially packed.
- Cash, gold, jewellery and original documents: carry them on the plane.
- Damaged batteries and appliances that leak fluid.
What happens when the container reaches Radès?
When the container reaches Radès it is discharged and registered at the port, the broker files the declaration, customs decide how to inspect, and once any charges are paid the container leaves for your home. This stage usually takes 3 to 7 working days and is much shorter when the papers are complete before arrival.
In shared freight the container goes to a consolidation warehouse where shipments are sorted by name and each one is handed over after clearance, which is why every piece should carry a label with the consignee name and shipment number. Free days at the port are limited; if collection is late because the consignee is absent, storage charges start and are paid in Tunisia.
If your home is not ready when the container arrives, tell us before shipping so we can delay loading, or store the furniture in Saudi Arabia until the right time with our furniture storage service; storage in Saudi Arabia is easier than paying port demurrage.
Tunisian governorates we deliver to
We deliver in Tunis and the governorates of the north, the coast and the south, mainly through Radès and through Sfax or Sousse when the line suits. Governorates far from the port add a day or two for distribution.

| Region | Main governorates and cities | Arrival point |
|---|---|---|
| Greater Tunis | Tunis, Ariana, Ben Arous, Manouba | Radès |
| North | Bizerte, Nabeul, Hammamet, Béja, Jendouba | Radès |
| Sahel | Sousse, Monastir, Mahdia | Sousse or Radès |
| Centre | Kairouan, Sidi Bouzid, Kasserine | Sfax or Sousse |
| South | Sfax, Gabès, Medenine, Djerba, Tataouine | Sfax |
On delivery we carry furniture inside, reassemble beds and wardrobes and take the packing away. If the home is on a high floor without a lift or in a narrow lane, we agree the method beforehand so delivery is not delayed.
Saudi pickup cities for shipping to Tunisia

| Jeddah, Makkah and Taif | Jeddah Islamic Port | Same day to 1 day |
| Riyadh, Al-Kharj and Al-Majmaah | Jeddah or Dammam | 1 to 2 days |
| Madinah and Yanbu | Jeddah Islamic Port | 1 day |
| Dammam, Khobar, Jubail and Al-Ahsa | Dammam or Jeddah | 1 to 2 days |
| Buraidah, Unaizah and Hail | Jeddah | 2 days |

How to book your shipment to Tunisia step by step
Booking a shipment to Tunisia takes six steps, most of them done on WhatsApp without leaving home:

- Send the details: room photos, your Saudi city and your Tunisian governorate, to 0560533140.
- Get your price: we work out the volume and suggest a dedicated or shared container with the expected sailing.
- Prepare your papers: passport, ID card and iqama, plus a consular power of attorney if you will not be in Tunisia.
- Loading day: dismantling, packing and an inventory you sign, then the container is sealed.
- Sailing: we send the B/L number, vessel name and arrival date at Radès.
- Delivery: customs clearance, then delivery and assembly at your home.
Mistakes that delay shipments at Radès
Most container delays at Radès come from missing or mismatched papers, not the ship. Mistakes we head off in advance:
- A one-language or vague inventory: customs prefer a clear French or Arabic list of every item.
- No power of attorney: the owner has not reached Tunisia yet and nobody holds a consular proxy to collect.
- Goods mixed with furniture: boxes of new products in quantity inside a return-move container.
- A car that fails the age rule: shipped and then found to be outside FCR, so full duties apply.
- Late collection: exceeding the free days at port adds daily storage charges.
If your family is spread across neighbouring countries, compare routes too: we run regular services such as Shipping Company from Saudi Arabia to Algeria, Shipping Company from Saudi Arabia to Libya and Shipping Company from Saudi Arabia to Morocco, each with its own ports and paperwork.
Tips before moving your belongings from Saudi Arabia to Tunisia
The smoothest moves to Tunisia are planned at least a month before travel: that leaves time for consular papers, selling what is not worth shipping, and booking a container that lands shortly before or after you. Our practical advice:
- Decide early what to take and what to sell; cheap bulky furniture is not worth the sea freight.
- Check appliance labels: Tunisia runs at 50 Hz, and anything marked 50/60Hz works without trouble.
- Photograph valuable furniture and appliances before packing and keep a copy of the signed inventory.
- Take marine insurance for high-value shipments and ask clearly about exclusions.
- Carry your original papers and what you need for the first two weeks in your luggage.
