How much does shipping from Madinah to the UAE cost?
Shipping from Madinah to the UAE starts from SAR 1,530 for a single bedroom, and the price rises with the volume of furniture in cubic metres and the number of pieces that need special dismantling or crating. A three-bedroom flat in Al Aziziyah with a full majlis is a very different job from a student’s room in Al Awali, so we size the shipment first and then quote.
Volume is the biggest cost driver, followed by the type of service. A dedicated truck carries only your home and leaves on your date; groupage shares a truck with other UAE-bound shipments and suits a few boxes and pieces. Floor level, lift access, the distance between the building door and where the truck can park, and whether you want reassembly in the UAE all affect the final figure.
These are starting prices for the most common requests from Madinah to the UAE:
| Service | Details | From (SAR) |
|---|---|---|
| Single bedroom | Dismantle, pack, load, deliver and reassemble in the UAE | 1,530 |
| Two-bedroom flat | Average flat including kitchen and appliances | 4,250 |
| Fridge or washer | One item in a groupage truck | 370 |
| Split AC | Both units, gas recovered and pipes wrapped | 280 |
| Carton | Standard sealed and numbered box | 46 |
| Car shipping | Car carrier to Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah | Ask for the price by phone or WhatsApp |
| Air freight | Parcels and light or urgent items | Ask for the price by phone or WhatsApp |

How long does shipping from Madinah to the UAE take?
Road shipping from Madinah to the UAE normally takes 5 to 8 days from loading to delivery for a dedicated truck. The truck leaves Madinah towards Riyadh, continues to the Al Batha crossing on the UAE border, and after formalities drives on to Abu Dhabi, Dubai and the northern emirates.
Day one is usually dismantling, packing and loading. Two to three days are spent on the road inside the Kingdom, a day or more at the crossing depending on queues, and one to two days for distribution inside the UAE. Groupage can take extra days because the truck waits to fill before departure, so if you have a lease start date or a first day at work in Dubai, tell us at the start.
| Stage | What happens | Approximate time |
|---|---|---|
| Collection in Madinah | Dismantling, packing, numbering, loading | One day |
| Road inside Saudi Arabia | Madinah, Riyadh, then the road to Al Batha | Two to three days |
| Al Batha / Al Ghuwaifat | Saudi exit, UAE entry and inspection | A day or more |
| Delivery in the UAE | Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and beyond | One to two days |
Shipping methods from Madinah to the UAE: road, air or sea
The main way to move furniture and belongings from Madinah to the UAE is road freight in closed trucks, because the load goes from your door to the new door without changing vehicles. Fewer transfers mean fewer handling moments, which is where most scratches and breakages happen.
Sea freight from Jeddah Islamic Port to Jebel Ali is possible but rarely makes sense for household goods leaving Madinah: the shipment would first go by road to Jeddah, wait for a vessel and sail around the peninsula, which is slower and usually dearer than the direct road. Sea remains an option for large commercial cargo tied to container contracts.
Air freight has its own section below. For truck types and road details see our land shipping page.

Air freight from Madinah to the UAE: when does it fit?
Air freight from Madinah to the UAE suits light or urgent items such as clothes, documents, small electronics and gifts, and usually arrives within two to four days after handover and formalities. It does not suit large furniture, because the charge is based on volumetric weight; a light but bulky sofa can cost many times more by air than by truck.
Most air carriers calculate volumetric weight as length × width × height in centimetres divided by 6000, and you pay whichever is higher, actual or volumetric weight. A 60 × 50 × 50 cm box has a volumetric weight of 25 kg even if it only weighs 12 kg. The practical answer is to split the move: urgent light things by air, the rest of the home by road.
Many families send two suitcases or a few cartons by air with what they need in the first week, and the rest on the truck. More on our air shipping page.
Car shipping from Madinah to the UAE
A car travels from Madinah to the UAE on a road car carrier, enclosed for new and premium cars or open for everyday vehicles, crossing at Al Batha and delivered to the emirate you choose. The car is loaded in running order and photographed from every side, with mileage and fuel level recorded.
You need a valid registration (istimara), no holds or violations blocking export, and a no-objection letter from the bank if the car is financed. GCC-spec cars register more easily in the UAE; other specifications need a conformity inspection first, so ask about your car before booking. Enclosed versus open carriers are explained on our car shipping page.
Driving your own car to the UAE is fine for a visit, but if the car will stay and be registered there, it must be exported on the Saudi side and cleared on the UAE side, which we handle when it ships on our carrier.

Moving home furniture and packing for the Al Batha run
A home move from Madinah to the UAE starts with technicians dismantling the large pieces, then each item is wrapped in the material that suits it, and cartons are numbered by room so the assembly team knows where everything goes. A journey of more than 1,500 km in summer heat calls for stronger packing than a local move.
Wood and doors are wrapped in blankets then heavy-duty stretch film. Glass and mirrors get corrugated board and foam corners, and large TVs go in their original box or a wooden crate. Sofas and Arabic majlis seating get a dust film and corner board, and mattresses go into thick sealed bags.
Appliances need a different approach: the fridge is emptied and dried the day before, the washer drum is locked, and split ACs have their gas recovered before removal. Screws and small fittings go into numbered bags tied to their piece.

🪵 Wood and wardrobes
Doors and drawers removed, blanket and film wrap, corners protected
🪞 Glass and mirrors
Corrugated board and foam corners; crates for large pieces
📺 Screens
Original box or a custom crate, transported upright
❄️ Air conditioners
Gas recovered first, pipes covered, both units numbered
Documents and customs for shipping from Madinah to the UAE
The core documents are a copy of the sender’s ID or iqama, the recipient’s passport with UAE residence or visa, and a detailed packing list of cartons and pieces. Customs officers at the crossing work from this list, so the clearer it is, the faster the truck passes.
Used household furniture is normally treated as personal effects when it is clearly for the owner’s use and not for sale. Commercial goods need an invoice and certificate of origin and pay the applicable duties. Saudi Arabia and the UAE are both in the GCC customs union, which makes procedures clearer than for non-Gulf destinations, but inspection still happens and an accurate list is still required.
Keep trade goods out of your household load
Twenty identical new items in their boxes packed among your furniture can get the whole shipment treated as commercial and delayed. Ship trade goods separately with their own papers.
What is prohibited when shipping from Madinah to the UAE?
Do not pack flammables, gas cylinders, damaged batteries, chemicals, weapons and ammunition, narcotics, large quantities of medicine without a prescription, or perishable food with your furniture. Some items need prior permits, such as drones and certain communication devices.
🔥 Hazardous goods
Petrol, gas, aerosols, flammable paints
💊 Medicines
Personal quantities only, with the prescription
🌱 Plants and soil
Subject to agricultural quarantine; better not shipped
💍 Jewellery and cash
Keep them with you, never in the truck
Carry gold, cash and original documents such as passports and certificates yourself; they cannot easily be replaced and have no place in a furniture load.
Commercial cargo from Madinah to the UAE
Commercial cargo also goes by road, either as a full truck for a shop or factory or as space in a groupage truck for small quantities such as packed dates, perfumes or clothing. Unlike furniture, trade goods need a commercial invoice and certificate of origin, and may need an importer registered with UAE customs.
Goods made in Saudi Arabia benefit from a GCC certificate of origin under the customs union, while goods originally imported from outside the Gulf may be treated differently. We ask for the invoice before loading, because one missing paper keeps the truck at the border until it is supplied.
Insurance and what happens on arrival
You can insure a Madinah to UAE shipment for a value you declare, which we recommend for full homes and expensive appliances. The cover is based on the packing list and declared value, so keep the list accurate and photograph valuable pieces before packing.
On arrival the delivery team checks numbered cartons against the list, then unpacks and reassembles the furniture. Inspect during assembly, not days later; if you see a scratch or break, photograph it at once and tell the supervisor before the team leaves.
Mistakes that delay shipments to the UAE
Most delays come from small mistakes before loading, not from the road:
- A recipient name that does not match the passport or UAE residence.
- A gas cylinder or petrol can left in the storeroom and loaded with the rest.
- Unnumbered, undescribed cartons that customs cannot match to the list.
- No lift booking at the tower in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, so the truck waits for hours.
- Upholstery packed damp after cleaning, which smells of mould after days in a closed truck.
Cities we deliver to in the UAE
We deliver from Madinah to all seven emirates: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain, as well as Al Ain. Delivery is to the door of the villa or flat, including unloading and reassembly on request.
Abu Dhabi is usually the first stop because it is nearest the crossing, followed by Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman on the same road, while Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah add a few hours. Some Dubai towers require a lift booking and an access permit from building management, so request it early.

Districts we collect from in Madinah and the region
We collect from every district of Madinah, including Al Aziziyah, Quba, Al Awali, Sultanah, Al Difa, Shoran, Al Anabis, Al Khalidiyah, Al Harrah Al Sharqiyah, Al Harrah Al Gharbiyah, Al Jurf, Al Aqoul and Al Iskan, and from governorates of the region such as Yanbu, AlUla, Badr, Khaybar, Al Mahd and Al Hinakiyah.
If you live near the central area around the Prophet’s Mosque, large trucks may be restricted at certain times; we then use a smaller vehicle to shuttle your things to the main truck outside the zone. Share your location pin when booking.

Tips before moving your home from Madinah to the UAE
Decide what goes and what stays before loading day; changing your mind in front of the truck upsets the list and slows the team. Other practical tips:
- Sell or donate old heavy pieces; moving a worn wardrobe can cost more than buying new.
- Check the dimensions of the new home, especially a tower flat with a small lift.
- Do not ship opened or frozen food.
- Keep a copy of the packing list on your phone to check at delivery.
- If the new home is not ready, ask about furniture storage until handover.
