What does shipping from Jeddah to Iraq cost?
Shipping from Jeddah to Iraq with Saudi Express starts at SAR 46 per carton, SAR 415 for a split AC, SAR 510 for a fridge or washer, SAR 2,220 for a single bedroom, SAR 3,380 for a master bedroom and SAR 6,200 for a two-bedroom flat. What you actually pay rests on volume in cubic metres, the Iraqi province, and whether you want a dedicated truck or space on a shared load.
Iraq is one of our longest road routes from Jeddah, so volume makes a big difference. A small flat may fill 16 cubic metres and a villa more than 60, and every extra metre takes truck space. Since families know their homes better than we do, we ask for room photos or a short video call, then send the estimated volume and price before you book.
Starting prices for the most requested items and loads:
| Service | Details | Starts from (SAR) |
|---|---|---|
| Carton | About a tenth of a cubic metre of sealed belongings | 46 |
| 65-inch TV | In its box or a padded case | 325 |
| Split AC | Both units removed after gas recovery | 415 |
| Fridge or washer | Dried, wrapped and secured in the truck | 510 |
| Four-door wardrobe | Taken apart, numbered and wrapped | 1,020 |
| Single bedroom | Roughly 6 to 9 cubic metres | 2,220 |
| Master bedroom | Roughly 10 to 14 cubic metres | 3,380 |
| Two-bedroom flat | Roughly 16 to 24 cubic metres | 6,200 |
| Car shipping | Enclosed carrier, by car type and delivery province | Ask for the price by call or WhatsApp |
| Air freight | Documents, prescribed medicines, small devices | Ask for the price by call or WhatsApp |
To save on this route, take a shared load if your goods fill less than half a truck, leave behind furniture that is easy to buy in Baghdad or Basra, and box clothes and books yourself to cut labour hours. The price rises with high floors, pieces that need wooden crates and delivery to more than one address.
How many days does shipping from Jeddah to Iraq take?
Road shipping from Jeddah to Baghdad mostly takes 6 to 10 days; slightly less to Karbala and Najaf, which are closer to the Arar crossing, and a day or two more to Basra, Mosul and the Kurdistan Region. The time covers loading in Jeddah, the long drive north, formalities at Jdeidat Arar and on the Iraqi side, then distribution.
Approximate times by province:
| Province | Road after the Arar crossing | Approximate time from Jeddah |
|---|---|---|
| Karbala and Najaf | Arar → Nukhayb → Karbala | 6 – 8 days |
| Baghdad and Babil | Karbala → Baghdad or Hilla | 6 – 10 days |
| Anbar: Ramadi and Fallujah | Arar → Nukhayb → Karbala → Anbar | 7 – 10 days |
| Diwaniyah, Kut, Nasiriyah | Najaf → the centre and south | 7 – 10 days |
| Basra | Nasiriyah → Basra | 8 – 11 days |
| Mosul, Kirkuk, Erbil, Sulaymaniyah | Baghdad → the north | 8 – 12 days |
A dedicated truck leaves on loading day; a shared load may wait two or three days to fill. During the major pilgrimage seasons in Karbala and Najaf inland roads are crowded, so avoid delivery on those days if you can.
The truck route from Jeddah to the Jdeidat Arar crossing
The truck leaves Jeddah for Madinah, heads north to Hail and then to Arar in the Northern Borders region, and on to the Jdeidat Arar crossing on the Iraqi border. The crossing handles both cargo and passengers and is the main truck route between the Kingdom and Iraq.
After crossing, the road enters Anbar province and usually heads towards Nukhayb and then Karbala, from where loads are distributed to Baghdad, the Middle Euphrates and the south. With every booking we choose the crossing that best suits your province and tell you if another route fits your shipment better.
💡 Driving your own car
If you will drive through Jdeidat Arar while we ship the furniture, get an Absher vehicle travel authorisation, settle any fines, and carry insurance covering Iraq and a transit document such as a triptyque.
Ways to ship from Jeddah to Iraq: road, air and sea
Road is the main way to ship furniture, appliances and cars from Jeddah to Iraq, moving goods door to door in under two weeks. Air is for light urgent parcels, and sea is used mainly for large commercial cargo through Umm Qasr port in Basra, usually from Gulf ports rather than Jeddah, because the sea route from Jeddah goes around the Arabian Peninsula.
| Method | When to choose it | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Road, dedicated truck | A whole home, villa or truckload of goods | 6 – 10 days to Baghdad |
| Road, shared load | A room, a few items or some pieces | 8 – 12 days |
| Air | Papers, medicines, small electronics | 2 – 5 days |
| Sea to Umm Qasr | Large commercial containers | Depends on line and port |
Truck types and full or part loads are described on our land freight page.
Air freight from Jeddah to Iraq
Air freight from Jeddah to Iraq arrives in 2 to 5 days from King Abdulaziz International Airport to Baghdad International, Najaf, Basra or Erbil. People choose it for official papers needed quickly, prescribed personal medicines, a phone or laptop, or gifts for an upcoming occasion. For furniture and large appliances the air cost usually far exceeds their value.
Airlines charge a parcel on its actual weight or its volumetric weight, taking the larger. For the volumetric figure, multiply the parcel’s centimetre dimensions together and divide by 6,000. Example: a 40 × 40 × 30 cm parcel counts as 8 kg, so if it holds 12 kg of books it is charged at 12. Simple rule: small heavy things suit air; large light things belong on the truck.

Car shipping from Jeddah to Iraq
Saudi Express ships cars from Jeddah to Iraq on enclosed car carriers via Jdeidat Arar, with each car strapped at the wheels so dust and stones from the long road cannot reach it. The car can travel with your household goods on the same date, or ahead of them so it is waiting when you arrive.

Before shipping, make sure Iraqi customs will accept the car. Iraq applies technical requirements to imported vehicles and bans the import of cars that have suffered serious accidents, flooding, fire or major damage. We ask for your registration, chassis number and model year and check them with the Iraqi broker before loading, so the car is not turned back at the border.
⚠️ Saudi purchase price is not the basis
Iraqi charges follow customs valuation of the make, model and engine size, not what you paid in Saudi Arabia. Ask the broker for an estimate before deciding to ship an older or large car.
If the car will return with you to the Kingdom after a visit, temporary entry with a transit document such as a triptyque is better than importing it. Carriers and multi-car shipping are covered on car shipping.

Moving to Iraq means a long journey on desert roads, and heat, dust and vibration damage furniture more than distance alone. So our work starts with packing: every wooden piece is wrapped in a blanket and then heavy film, glass goes into double cartons, sofas and mattresses into sealed dust-proof bags, and appliances are drained and wrapped in foam.

A carpenter takes down bedrooms and wardrobes, keeping screws in numbered bags tied to each piece. A technician removes air conditioners after recovering the gas, and kitchens come apart in order with numbered doors and drawers. An inventory lists every carton and its contents, one copy with you and one with the driver, for the border and for delivery.
🔩 Dismantling
A carpenter takes furniture apart in order and keeps the fittings with each piece.
🧱 Packing
Blankets, film, foam and reinforced card according to each item.
🚛 Loading
Heavy items first at the bottom, then cartons, with straps to stop movement.
🏡 Assembly
In Iraq beds and wardrobes are rebuilt and items placed in their rooms.
When does an item need a wooden crate?
An item needs a wooden crate when it is both fragile and heavy, or valuable and irreplaceable: a marble table top, large mirrors, chandeliers, antiques, or a big TV without its original box. Normal wrapping protects against scratches; a crate protects against pressure and impact when goods are stacked for a journey of over a thousand kilometres.
The crate is built to size in Jeddah, the item is held inside with foam so it cannot move, and the crate is marked with this-way-up arrows and “fragile”. Its cost depends on size, so we suggest it only for pieces that justify it and tell you the price before building it.
ACs and appliances ready for the Iraqi summer
Summer in Baghdad and Basra is among the hottest in the region, and a good AC is a necessity for a returning family. So we handle air conditioners carefully: a technician pumps the gas into the outdoor unit, caps the pipes and protects the condenser fins with reinforced card, and units ride upright at the front of the truck away from heavy pieces.
Fridges and freezers are switched off and dried two days ahead, loaded upright and left standing for some hours after arrival before use. A small home generator can be shipped once completely drained of fuel and oil; a generator with fuel traces is refused on the load.
Documents needed to ship from Jeddah to Iraq
Shipping to Iraq needs only a few papers, and the names on them must match:
- Copy of the owner’s passport and iqama or Saudi ID.
- Recipient details in Iraq: name as on the national card, phone and full address.
- A numbered inventory of cartons, items and contents.
- Electronic authorisation for the customs broker through Fasah.
- For a car: original registration, chassis number and export papers or a transit document.
- For goods: a detailed commercial invoice, certificate of origin, the Iraqi importer’s details and an import licence if required.
List the types and number of electrical appliances, separating new from used. Iraqi customs treat used personal effects differently from new goods, and a clear list means fewer inspections and questions.
What cannot be shipped from Jeddah to Iraq?
Flammables, gas cylinders, weapons and ammunition and chemicals cannot travel with household goods to Iraq, and large quantities of medicine, drones and two-way radios need prior approval. Shared loads apply these rules strictly, since one violation can hold the entire truck.
⛽ Fuel and hazardous goods
Petrol, kerosene, paint, solvents, gas cylinders and extinguishers.
🎯 Weapons
Firearms and parts, ammunition, hunting guns and look-alikes.
💊 Medicines
Large quantities or controlled substances need prescriptions and approvals.
🥫 Food
Sealed dates, coffee and spices in household amounts; no perishables.
What you pay when the shipment reaches Iraq
The Saudi Express price covers transport, packing, clearance at the crossing and delivery as agreed; Iraqi government charges depend on the type of goods. Used personal effects in household quantities usually carry limited charges, while new appliances, commercial goods and cars are subject to Iraqi customs duties based on customs valuation.
There may also be service fees at the Arar post and the Iraqi broker’s fee, which we explain before loading. What raises charges most: new boxed appliances, repeated quantities of the same item and cars with large engines. We review the list with you before shipping and point out what is likely to be charged.
Commercial goods from Jeddah to Iraq
Saudi Express moves goods from Jeddah to Iraq as full truckloads or part loads: food, household products, clothing, medical supplies, spare parts and building materials. A trader in Baghdad or Basra importing a small monthly quantity suits groupage; a large distributor suits a full truck on a fixed schedule.
Goods need a commercial invoice with weights and values, a certificate of origin and the Iraqi importer’s details, and some products require inspection or approval from Iraqi standards bodies. We check the documents with you before loading, because any gap between invoice and cargo can hold the truck at the border for days.
What happens when the truck reaches the Arar crossing?
At Jdeidat Arar the Saudi broker submits the export declaration, papers are checked and the load may be scanned or inspected by hand before crossing to the Iraqi side. There the import declaration and inventory are presented, the officer checks goods against the list, any charges are calculated, and the truck is cleared to continue.
This stage usually takes one to two days, longer if the list is vague or contains undeclared new appliances. So we write an inventory a customs officer can understand at a glance and send you a copy to review before the truck leaves Jeddah.
A few suitcases and cartons to Iraq
If you are heading back to Iraq with a few bags and boxes you do not need a dedicated truck; space on a shared load is enough, with cartons from SAR 46. Bring them sealed to our Jeddah warehouse with your name and Iraqi phone number, or we collect and pack them at home, and they are delivered to your province with other loads for the same area.
Provinces we deliver to in Iraq
Saudi Express delivers from Jeddah to every Iraqi province: Baghdad on both Karkh and Rusafa sides, Basra, Najaf, Karbala, Babil and Hilla, Diwaniyah, Wasit and Kut, Dhi Qar and Nasiriyah, Maysan and Amarah, Muthanna and Samawah, Anbar with Ramadi and Fallujah, Salahuddin, Diyala, Nineveh and Mosul, and Kirkuk. We also deliver to Erbil, Sulaymaniyah and Duhok in the Kurdistan Region, where entry may involve extra procedures.

Before arrival our representative calls the recipient to fix a time and confirm the address and where the truck can park. At delivery cartons are counted against the list, large items checked and furniture reassembled. Ideally someone who knows the belongings attends and signs once satisfied.
Which Jeddah districts do we collect from for Iraq?
We collect shipments for Iraq from every district of Jeddah, including Al Aziziyah, Al Safa, Al Marwah, Al Samer, Al Ajwad, Al Harazat, Al Naseem, Al Rabwah, Al Nuzhah, Al Faisaliyah, Al Rehab, Al Bawadi, Al Salamah, Al Rawdah, Al Khalidiyah, Al Hamra, Al Zahra, Al Naeem, Obhur Al Shamaliyah, Al Jamiah, Mushrifah, Al Kandarah and Al Balad, as well as Rabigh, Khulais and Al Kamil.
If your cargo sits in a warehouse in the industrial area or on the Haramain road, we send the truck straight there and load by forklift where available. For homes in towers, book the lift with management ahead of the date.
What to do before our crew arrives
Packing day goes faster when the home is ready. These are five simple steps we ask of every family moving to Iraq:
- Empty the fridge and freezer two days ahead and leave them open to dry completely.
- Set aside what travels with you by plane or car and keep it in a closed room.
- Remove prohibited items before the crew arrives: gas, cleaning products, batteries and large perfumes.
- Put important papers, gold and cash in your hand bag.
- Book the lift with building management and tell us if the street outside is narrow.
If your home in Iraq is not ready on arrival, loading can be postponed or the goods kept packed in a Jeddah warehouse until you set a date. For valuable pieces we recommend shipment insurance based on the value you declare in the inventory, so write a realistic value and keep the photos.

Tips before shipping your home from Jeddah to Iraq
Iraqi summers are extremely hot and grid power cuts out for hours in some areas, so good air conditioners, modern fridges and small home generators are worth shipping, while old power-hungry appliances are not. Iraq runs on about 220 volts, so Jeddah appliances usually work without converters.
Start sorting two weeks ahead and keep a first-days bag with you: papers, medicines, clothes and chargers. Photograph valuable devices before packing and send the inventory to the recipient in Iraq if you will not be there. If you also have belongings bound for Jordan or Syria, we can arrange two shipments on the same date from Jeddah.
