Saudi Express ships furniture, household goods and cars from Jeddah to Jordan by road in enclosed trucks that head north through Tabuk, cross the Saudi border at Halat Ammar into Jordan at Al Mudawwara, then continue to Amman, Zarqa, Irbid, Aqaba and every other governorate. Our crew takes apart, wraps and loads everything at your Jeddah address, we handle customs on both sides of the border, and the team rebuilds your furniture in Jordan; and the trip usually takes 5 to 8 days. Shipping prices from Jeddah to Jordan
Shipping from Jeddah to Jordan with Saudi Express starts from SAR 92 per carton, SAR 2,700 for a complete bedroom, SAR 7,550 for a two-bedroom flat and SAR 2,320 for a saloon car on an enclosed carrier. These are starting prices; the final figure depends on the volume of your belongings in cubic metres, your floor in Jeddah, whether there is a lift, and the Jordanian city where the shipment is delivered.
You may wonder whether you pay per item or by size. On international road freight you pay for the space your belongings take inside the truck, so a six-door wardrobe can cost more than ten boxes of clothing. So we ask for photos of the rooms or a short list of the large pieces: we turn it into an approximate volume and give you a realistic price before loading day, not a surprise at the truck door.
Here is where the main items on the Jeddah–Jordan route begin:
| Service | Details | Starts from (SAR) |
|---|---|---|
| Standard carton | Clothes, books or kitchenware, packed and numbered | 92 |
| Fridge or washing machine | Dried and wrapped in foam and heavy-duty film | 640 |
| Master bed with mattress | Dismantling, packing, transport and assembly | 1,100 |
| Complete bedroom | Bed, wardrobe, dresser and side tables | 2,700 |
| Two-bedroom flat | Two bedrooms, majlis, basic kitchen and appliances | 7,550 |
| Saloon car | Enclosed car carrier to the Jordanian city | 2,320 |
| Air freight | Papers, small electronics and anything you need quickly | Ask for the price by call or WhatsApp |
| Sea container to Aqaba | Commercial goods and large volumes | Ask for the price by call or WhatsApp |
Three things raise the bill more than anything else: oversized pieces that need a wooden crate, high floors without a lift in Jeddah or in Jordan, and delivery to a village far from the main road. Three things lower it: getting rid of old furniture before shipping, sharing a truck when your dates are flexible, and packing clothes and books yourself before the crew arrives.
How long does shipping from Jeddah to Jordan take?
Road shipping from Jeddah to Jordan takes 5 to 8 days for most shipments, and air freight for parcels takes 2 to 4 days. A dedicated truck leaves on the loading day or the next morning and arrives sooner; a shared load waits until the truck bound for Jordan is full, which can add two or three days.
Actual driving time is only about two days. The full timeline includes packing and loading in Jeddah, exit formalities at Halat Ammar, entry and inspection at Al Mudawwara, and distribution inside Jordan. During holidays the border gets busy with travellers and trucks, so book at least two weeks ahead.
Approximate timings by Jordanian city:
| City in Jordan | Route after Al Mudawwara | Approximate time from Jeddah |
|---|---|---|
| Aqaba | South on the Desert Highway | 4 – 6 days |
| Ma’an, Karak, Tafilah | Via Ma’an | 5 – 7 days |
| Amman, Madaba, Salt | North on the Desert Highway | 5 – 8 days |
| Zarqa, Mafraq | Amman → Zarqa | 5 – 8 days |
| Irbid, Jerash, Ajloun | Amman → the north | 6 – 8 days |
The truck route from Jeddah to Amman via Halat Ammar
Our usual route from Jeddah runs north towards Madinah and Tabuk, then to the Halat Ammar crossing on the Saudi–Jordanian border, with Al Mudawwara on the Jordanian side. It is the closest crossing for Jeddah and the Hijaz region and is used for furniture, goods and cars all year round.
After Al Mudawwara the truck heads to Ma’an and then chooses its road by delivery address: north on the Desert Highway to Amman, Zarqa and Irbid, or south to Aqaba. The coastal Al Durra crossing near Haql is sometimes used for loads going to Aqaba, while Al Haditha suits shipments from Riyadh and the Eastern Province rather than Jeddah. That is why our guide to shipping from Riyadh to Jordan differs in crossing and timing.
💡 Before loading day
Make sure your passport and Saudi ID or iqama remain valid for at least a month after the expected delivery date. The manifest is issued in your name, and any mismatch between the packing list and your ID can hold the truck at the border.
Ways to ship from Jeddah to Jordan: road, sea and air
Road freight is the main way to move furniture and cars from Jeddah to Jordan, because it goes door to door without unloading at an intermediate port. Sea freight runs from Jeddah Islamic Port to Aqaba and suits traders and large volumes of containerised goods more than one household. Air freight is for light, urgent parcels.
| Method | Suits | Approximate time |
|---|---|---|
| Road, enclosed truck | Whole homes, appliances, cars, goods | 5 – 8 days |
| Sea to Aqaba | Commercial containers and large volumes | Depends on sailing schedule |
| Air to Amman | Parcels, documents, urgent personal items | 2 – 4 days |
On the road we offer a dedicated truck that carries only your belongings and leaves on your date, ideal for villas and large flats, and a shared load where you share a truck with other families bound for Jordan and pay only for your volume. Truck sizes and loads are explained on our land freight page.
Air freight from Jeddah to Jordan
Air freight from Jeddah to Jordan arrives in 2 to 4 days from King Abdulaziz International Airport to Queen Alia Airport in Amman. It suits official papers, clothes you need on arrival, small electronics, gifts and urgent spare parts. We do not recommend it for furniture, because the cost by weight usually exceeds the value of the piece.
The airline bills the heavier of two figures: the scale weight or the volumetric weight, which equals length × width × height in centimetres divided by 6,000, so a 60 × 50 × 50 cm carton counts as 25 kg even if it only holds pillows. Put bulky light items in the road shipment and keep air for small, heavy or urgent things.

You can combine both: first-week suitcases and documents go by air, and the furniture follows by road a few days later. We pack air parcels in reinforced cartons and weigh them before handing them to the airline.

Saudi Express ships cars from Jeddah to Jordan on enclosed car carriers from SAR 2,320, and the car usually arrives with the furniture or a day or two before it. An enclosed carrier protects paint and glass from gravel and dust on the long Tabuk road, and the car is strapped by its wheels rather than its body.

There are two different ways for a car to enter Jordan. Temporary entry is for using your Saudi car in Jordan for a limited period and then returning with it; it needs an Absher vehicle travel authorisation, a valid registration card and a transit document such as a triptyque. Permanent import is for registering the car in Jordan; Jordanian customs duties apply, along with import rules on the car’s age and condition.
⚠️ Cars Jordan will not admit
Jordan does not allow the import of right-hand-drive cars, former taxis, police or school vehicles, flood- or fire-damaged cars, or cars converted to run on gas, and small electric cars have their own age limit. Check the model year and chassis number with the clearing agent before shipping.
If you will drive your own car while we move the furniture, make sure your international insurance is valid and your traffic fines are settled, since Absher may not issue the authorisation with outstanding violations. For several cars or a luxury car, see car shipping.
Furniture moving from Jeddah to Jordan: dismantling, packing and assembly
Our crew moves an entire home from Jeddah to Jordan: a carpenter dismantles the rooms, each piece is packed according to its material and numbered on an inventory, and everything is reassembled in your new home. On a journey of around 1,400 km this matters, because constant vibration is the biggest enemy of unsecured furniture.

Wood and wardrobes are wrapped in blankets and then heavy-duty film; glass and mirrors go into double cartons between foam boards; sofas are covered in thick plastic against dust and humidity; appliances are drained and wrapped in foam. Valuable pieces get a wooden crate when needed. Every carton carries a number and a room name, so on arrival you know where everything goes without opening all the boxes.
🔧 Carpenter dismantling
Large wardrobes and imported bedroom sets are taken apart in order, with screws bagged and labelled for each piece.
📦 Packing by material
Wood, glass, marble, fabric and appliances each get their own layers and materials.
📋 Numbered inventory
A list of every carton and item, useful at the border and when checking delivery.
🏠 Assembly in Jordan
We reassemble beds and wardrobes in your new home.
Air conditioners need a technician to recover the gas, remove both units and seal the pipes, and wooden kitchens are dismantled unit by unit with numbered doors. If your home in Jordan is not ready on arrival, loading can be postponed or your belongings kept in furniture storage in Jeddah until you set a delivery date.
Customs exemption for used furniture when returning to Jordan
Used household furniture belonging to a Jordanian returning from Saudi Arabia can be exempted from customs duty under conditions: mainly at least twelve consecutive months of residence outside Jordan, furniture that is used and owned for a sufficient period before shipping, and a household rather than commercial quantity. The exemption is usually granted once to the head of the family, who signs a pledge not to sell the exempted furniture for a set period.
In practice the Jordanian clearing agent asks for proof that your Saudi residency or employment has ended, your passport, and a detailed inventory in the beneficiary’s own name. We make sure the packing list matches your passport exactly and lists any new boxed appliances separately, as they are usually outside the exemption. Non-Jordanians pay the normal charges, and we explain what to expect before loading.
⚠️ New appliances in their boxes
New, unused appliances and goods are not treated as used household effects and may attract duty and sales tax. If you bought anything new for the house, tell us so it is listed clearly.
Documents needed to ship from Jeddah to Jordan
Shipping from Jeddah to Jordan needs only a few documents, but they must be correct and consistent. We go through this checklist together a few days ahead so nothing holds the truck at Halat Ammar:
- Copy of the sender’s passport and Saudi ID or iqama.
- Recipient’s name, phone number and address in Jordan, and a copy of their ID if they are not the owner.
- A detailed, numbered packing list of items and cartons.
- Electronic authorisation for the customs broker through the Fasah platform.
- For returning Jordanians: proof that residency or employment in Saudi Arabia has ended.
- For a car: original registration, Absher authorisation, and a transit or export document depending on the entry type.
- For commercial goods: commercial invoice, certificate of origin and the importer’s commercial registration.
What you pay on arrival in Jordan
The Saudi Express price covers transport from your home in Jeddah to your home in Jordan with dismantling, packing and assembly; Jordanian government charges depend on the type of shipment and its owner. A returning Jordanian who qualifies for the exemption usually pays no customs duty on used furniture, while non-exempt items are subject to duty by tariff line and a general sales tax of 16% of their value.
There may also be clearance and service fees at Al Mudawwara customs or at the inland customs house where the shipment is cleared, which the clearing agent confirms before the truck moves. Ask before loading about expected charges on the car and any new appliances in particular, as they raise the arrival bill most; used furniture, clothes and books carry limited charges or are exempt in most cases.
Prohibited and restricted items for Jordan
Flammable materials, gas cylinders, weapons and look-alikes, and commercial quantities of medicine without prescriptions and approvals cannot be shipped from Jeddah to Jordan. Following this list protects your shipment from being held at the border, and protects the whole truck on a shared load.
🔥 Not allowed on the truck
Petrol, kerosene, paints, solvents, gas cylinders even when empty, fireworks.
💊 Needs approval
Large quantities of medicine and supplements without medical reports; some need Jordan FDA approval.
📡 Restricted devices
Drones, transmitters, listening devices and hidden cameras need prior security approval.
🍯 Food
Sealed dry food such as dates and coffee in household quantities is fine; perishables are not shipped.
Carry gold, cash and original documents such as birth certificates and degrees yourself; they cannot be replaced and do not belong in a carton on a truck.
Commercial goods from Jeddah to Jordan
Saudi Express ships commercial goods from Jeddah to Jordan as full truckloads or part loads: sealed food, clothing, building materials, spare parts and equipment. A full truck suits factories and distributors; a part load suits a shop owner sending a monthly consignment that does not fill a truck.
Goods of Saudi origin benefit from Greater Arab Free Trade Area exemptions when they travel with a valid certificate of origin, so we ask the trader for a detailed commercial invoice with weights and values, the certificate of origin, and the Jordanian importer’s details and registration. Some goods such as food and cosmetics need approval from the relevant Jordanian authorities before shipping, and we check this with you so nothing waits at the border.
Cities we deliver to in Jordan
Saudi Express delivers door to door from Jeddah to every Jordanian governorate: Amman and districts such as Khalda, Tla’ Al Ali, Tabarbour and Sweileh, Zarqa and Russeifa, Irbid and Ramtha, Aqaba, Salt, Madaba, Jerash, Ajloun, Mafraq, Karak, Ma’an and Tafilah. In villages and hilly areas we agree in advance where the truck can park if the streets are narrow.

On arrival the driver or our representative calls you a day before delivery. The crew unloads, places items in rooms by inventory number and reassembles beds and wardrobes. Inspect the pieces in front of the crew and sign for delivery once the carton count matches.
Jeddah districts we collect from
We collect shipments for Jordan from every district of Jeddah, north and south, and from nearby governorates. Districts we work in daily include Al Hamra, Al Rawdah, Al Zahra, Al Salamah, Al Naeem, Al Mohammadiyah, Obhur Al Shamaliyah, Al Shati, Al Khalidiyah, Al Safa, Al Marwah, Al Faisaliyah, Al Bawadi, Al Rabwah, Al Nuzhah, Al Rehab, Al Samer, Al Ajwad, Al Harazat, Al Fayha, Al Jamiah, Al Aziziyah, Mushrifah, Al Baghdadiyah and Al Sharafiyah. We also collect from Rabigh, Khulais, Al Kamil and King Abdullah Economic City.
In older districts with narrow streets we send a small vehicle to shuttle items to the large truck on the nearest wide road. In towers, please book the lift with building management, as some buildings set fixed moving hours.
Steps to ship from Jeddah to Jordan
Shipping from Jeddah to Jordan follows seven clear steps, so you always know where your belongings are:
- Contact and estimate: send room photos or we visit to estimate the volume, then confirm price and date.
- Paperwork: we collect passport and ID copies and recipient details and prepare the inventory.
- Dismantling and packing: our team comes at the agreed hour and prepares every piece for the road.
- Loading: heavy items go at the bottom and each row is strapped.
- Border crossing: the truck passes Halat Ammar and then Al Mudawwara while the clearing agent handles formalities.
- Distribution: the truck heads to your city and we call to set a delivery time.
- Delivery and assembly: the crew unloads and reassembles, and you sign for delivery.
Mistakes that delay a shipment at the border
Most delays from Jeddah to Jordan are not caused by the road but by small details that could have been avoided before loading. These are the most common:
📝 A vague list
Writing just “household items” makes the inspector open the cartons one by one.
🪪 A different name
A mismatch between passport, inventory and recipient details stops the exemption process.
🔋 Batteries and liquids
Car batteries, air fresheners and cleaning products hidden in cartons are refused and delay the whole truck.
📦 Undeclared new appliances
A new boxed appliance tucked among used furniture causes fines and a full review.
Tips before moving your home from Jeddah to Jordan
The smoothest moves are planned early. Two weeks before the date, start sorting: sell or donate in Jeddah what you will not need in Jordan, because every cubic metre has a cost. Pack seasonal clothes separately; winter in Amman and Irbid is cold and calls for clothes and blankets many Jeddah residents rarely use.
Two days before, empty, dry and air the fridge, and drain the washing machine. On loading day keep a small bag with what you need for the first three days: medicines, chargers, papers and clothes. Photograph valuable devices before they are wrapped and keep a copy of the inventory on your phone.
💡 Electricity in Jordan
Jordan uses 230 volts, close to the supply in Jeddah, so household appliances usually work without converters; check any older 110-volt devices.
