Hofuf, Mubarraz or the villages: where will you live in Al-Ahsa?
Al-Ahsa is a large governorate, not a single city. It has two main adjoining cities, Hofuf and Mubarraz, surrounded by dozens of villages and towns among the palm groves, such as Al Oyun, Al Jafr, Al Taraf, Al Omran, Al Qarah, Al Mutairfi, Al Munaizlah and Al Jishah. Where your new home sits among them decides how far the truck travels after entering Al-Ahsa and what kind of streets it must use.
Modern districts in Hofuf and Mubarraz have wide, planned streets and easy unloading. Old central Hofuf and older villages have narrow lanes and attached houses where we may need a smaller truck for the final stage. Homes inside farms are a third case, because the dirt tracks between the palms do not suit every truck.
What is the price of moving furniture from Riyadh to Al-Ahsa?
The lowest price for a Riyadh to Al-Ahsa move is SAR 830, which covers a studio or one-bedroom flat; a three-room family flat starts at SAR 1,200 and a villa on two floors at SAR 2,040. Extras are priced on their own: a carpenter to take apart and rebuild bedrooms and wardrobes costs from SAR 140 a room, and storage from SAR 140 a week by volume.
| Service | What you get | Starts from (SAR) |
|---|---|---|
| Small flat (studio or one bedroom) | Moved in a small closed truck, wrapped and unloaded | 830 |
| Family flat with three rooms | Moved in a medium truck, wrapped and unloaded | 1,200 |
| Two-floor villa | Large truck and an expanded crew | 2,040 |
| Carpenter for take-apart and rebuild | Per room, with numbering and adjustment | 140 |
| Locked warehouse storage | Weekly rate by load size | 140 |
| Smaller truck for lanes or farms | Carrying the load to your door | Its rate is fixed at the survey |
These prices are a starting point; what changes them most on this route is the destination within Al-Ahsa. A house in a modern Hofuf district is different from one in an old lane or on a farm at the edge of the villages, so we ask for the map location along with furniture photos before setting the final figure.
How far is Al-Ahsa from Riyadh and how long is the day?
Riyadh to Hofuf is about 320 to 330 km, covered by a loaded truck in three and a half to four hours. Mubarraz adjoins Hofuf, so the time hardly changes, while eastern and northern villages may add half an hour or more depending on location.
| Stage | Approximate time for a medium flat |
|---|---|
| Dismantling, wrapping and loading in Riyadh | 3 to 4 hours |
| Road to Hofuf | 3.5 to 4 hours |
| Unloading | About 2 hours |
| Assembly and arranging | 2 to 3 hours |
In total it fits into one working day if dismantling starts in the morning. Large villas with wide majlis rooms and full storerooms may need a day and a half: loading and driving on day one, finishing assembly on the morning of day two.
The right wrapping for 330 km
The road to Al-Ahsa is mostly desert, flat and fast, but sand-laden winds blow on some days and summer heat is high. Four hours in a closed truck body under the sun can soften some glossy finishes, and fine sand finds its way into anything not properly wrapped.
- Double wrapping for mirrors and glass, cardboard on both sides, secured standing.
- Drawers and wardrobe doors held with mark-free tape so vibration does not open them.
- Wooden furniture covered in film then blankets, with corners guarded.
- Large pieces strapped inside the truck.
- Sealed covers for mattresses and fabric sofas against sand and dust.

Why do people move between Riyadh and Al-Ahsa?
Al-Ahsa is one of the Kingdom’s most populous governorates, and many of its people work or study in Riyadh and later return, or the other way round. On this route we see employees transferred to government and health bodies in Al-Ahsa, teachers, families returning to the family home after years in the capital, and students joining King Faisal University. We also see people buying furniture in Riyadh for their home in Al-Ahsa.
Often the new Al-Ahsa home is larger than the Riyadh flat, a traditional house or villa with separate men’s and women’s majlis rooms and a courtyard. The furniture arriving may not be enough for it, so some families move only the essentials and furnish the majlis rooms locally.
📞 Get a price for your Al-Ahsa move
Send your Riyadh district, the Al-Ahsa home location and room photos, and we will reply with a price and date.
Old houses and narrow lanes in Al-Ahsa
Central Hofuf and some older villages have traditional houses in lanes a large truck cannot enter, with old wooden doors narrower than modern ones. If your home is like this, we park the large truck on the nearest wide street and move the load by hand trolley or a small truck in batches, fully dismantling large pieces so they pass through the doors.
This takes more time and more workers, so we need to know in advance. Photograph the lane entrance and the house door for us, tell us the width of the narrowest internal door, and we will plan exactly what is needed.
Moving to palm farms and rest houses
Many Al-Ahsa families own palm farms with houses or rest houses, and the new home may be inside one. Farm tracks are dirt and sometimes narrow, lined with irrigation channels and close-set palms, so a large truck cannot always get in. We ask for the farm location and a photo of the track and entrance, and use a smaller truck if needed.
During the date harvest season farm tracks fill with trucks and workers, so if your date falls then and the house is on a farm, let us know and we will pick a quieter time to go in.
Do prices differ between Hofuf, Mubarraz and the villages?
The price difference between Hofuf and Mubarraz is almost nil because the two cities are joined. For villages the difference comes from two things: the extra distance after entering Al-Ahsa, and how easy the house is to reach. A nearby village with paved roads and a house with a wide entrance costs little more than the city, while a house in a narrow lane or on a distant farm may need an extra truck and more workers, so the price rises with that extra effort. In every case we tell you the price before moving day and do not change it on arrival.
Which Riyadh districts do we move from?
We collect from all Riyadh districts. Eastern and south-eastern districts such as Al Rawdah, Al Naseem, Al Sulay, Al Mansuriyah, Al Jazirah and Al Rayyan are closer to the roads heading east, so the trip begins quickly. From the north and west, such as Al Malqa, Al Narjis, Hittin and Al Suwaidi, leaving the city takes longer, so we start earlier.
If you have a move within Riyadh before travelling, like clearing a storeroom or taking pieces to a relative, it can be combined with the long move through our Riyadh furniture moving service.
Which Al-Ahsa districts do we deliver to?
In Hofuf we deliver to Al Kut, Al Rifah, Al Naathil, Al Fadiliyah, Al Muhammadiyah, Al Salmaniyah, Al Khalidiyah, Al Mazruiyah, Al Naifiyah, Al Andalus, Al Bandariyah, Al Muthallath and more; in Mubarraz to Al Rashidiyah, Mahasin and its other districts; and to villages such as Al Oyun, Al Jafr, Al Taraf, Al Omran, Al Qarah, Al Shuabah, Al Munaizlah, Al Jishah, Al Mutairfi and Jawatha.

Moving Arabic majlis seating, carpets and floor cushions
Many homes moving to Al-Ahsa have full Arabic majlis sets: floor mattresses, back cushions, pillows, large carpets and serving tables. These pieces are fairly light but bulky, and take a lot of truck space if not arranged carefully. We fold the mattresses and cushions into protective bags against dust, roll the large carpets tightly and wrap them in film, and stack them on top of the solid pieces so they are not crushed under heavy items.
Valuable hand-made rugs are rolled separately with the pile facing inward and never folded, because folding leaves permanent lines in the weave. Tell us in advance how many majlis sets you have and the sizes of the large carpets; this changes the truck size needed more than most people expect.
Two destinations in one trip: is it possible?
Yes, and it is common in Al-Ahsa: you might take part of the furniture to your home in Hofuf and part to the family house in a village, or drop rest-house furniture at the farm and the rest of the home in Mubarraz. We load in Riyadh so the second stop’s items are at the front and the first stop’s at the back, and each part comes off where it belongs without rearranging the truck.
An extra stop inside Al-Ahsa adds a little road time and unloading time, so it is built into the quote as soon as we have both addresses. We ask for someone at each stop to receive the pieces and sign for what was delivered there.
Dismantling, assembly and air conditioners
The basic move includes the dismantling needed to get pieces through doors. Specialist dismantling and assembly of bedrooms and large wardrobes, with numbering, photos and readjustment, starts from SAR 140 per room. We recommend it for heavy wooden bedrooms and big wardrobes, because moving them assembled over a long road weakens their joints.
ACs are removed and wrapped in Riyadh, and fitting in Al-Ahsa is agreed. Summers in Al-Ahsa are hot and, because of the oasis, humid, so we advise getting at least one unit fitted on arrival day.
Heat and humidity in Al-Ahsa: what to watch
Although Al-Ahsa is inland, the large oasis and farms make its summer humidity higher than Riyadh’s. Wrapped wooden furniture needs airing after arrival, and boxes should not sit in an open courtyard. Open boxes in cooled rooms, starting with appliances, clothes and medicines. If the new home is old or has been closed for a while, run the AC and open the windows a day before to let trapped damp out, and clean the rooms before the furniture arrives, because an empty home is far easier to clean than a furnished one.
Insurance and holding your furniture in storage
If you want your furniture insured, tell us before loading day; the cost is worked out from the value you declare. Insured or not, both sides sign a list of pieces and boxes, and we photograph valuable items in Riyadh and again in Al-Ahsa.
If the Al-Ahsa home is not ready, we keep the furniture in our locked furniture storage warehouse, from SAR 140 a week depending on volume, and deliver it once the home is ready.
