How much does shipping from Madinah to Turkey cost?

Shipping from Madinah to Turkey starts from SAR 930 for a bedroom by sea, SAR 2,790 for household furniture weighing 500 to 1,000 kg, SAR 5,550 for a full 20 ft container and SAR 7,400 for a 40 ft container. Small air parcels start from SAR 140.

By sea, volume sets the price: a small load goes in a shared container and you pay for the cubic metres it occupies, while a full home is cheaper and safer in its own container. The road leg from Madinah to Jeddah port (about 420 km) and delivery from the Turkish port to your city are added.

How are goods shipped from Madinah to Turkey?

Mainly by sea: goods are loaded in Madinah onto a truck or straight into a container, trucked to Jeddah Islamic Port, then sail through the Red Sea and the Suez Canal into the Mediterranean, arriving at Mersin or Istanbul. Small parcels and documents fly from Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz Airport in Madinah or from Jeddah.

People ask about a road route to Turkey, but household moves from Madinah to Turkey rely in practice on sea freight, which is the clearest procedurally and the most economical for large volumes. Container details are on our sea shipping page.

Full container or shared?

A full container is yours alone: loaded at your door, sealed and not opened until Turkish customs; it suits a whole home. A shared container combines several customers’ loads, so you pay only for your volume, but it waits to fill and is unloaded at a warehouse before delivery.

OptionSuitsApproximate door-to-door time

How long does shipping from Madinah to Turkey take?

Sea freight normally takes 3 to 5 weeks door to door for a private container, covering the road leg to Jeddah, waiting for the vessel, sailing, clearance in Turkey and delivery. Shared containers are a little slower because they wait to fill. Air usually arrives in 3 to 7 days.

Sailing schedules change with port congestion and shipping-line routes, so we give an estimated date at booking and update it once the container is booked on a specific vessel. If you travel ahead of the shipment, plan for this and take what you need for the first month.

Air freight from Madinah to Turkey

Air freight suits small parcels, clothes, documents, light devices and urgent items; a small parcel up to 5 kg starts from SAR 140 and arrives in about 3 to 7 days. Furniture by air costs far more than by sea.

The chargeable weight is the higher of real and volumetric weight. Most airlines compute volumetric weight as length × width × height in cm divided by 6000, while some express couriers divide by 5000. A 50 × 50 × 40 cm box is therefore charged at about 16.7 kg even if it weighs 8 kg. Details on air shipping.

Car shipping from Madinah to Turkey

Cars go by sea, in a closed container or on a car vessel, and a small car starts from SAR 9,300. Before anything else, check whether your car can enter Turkey, because Turkish rules restrict used-car imports very tightly.

What is usually available is temporary admission of the car on its foreign plates for a set period and under conditions; permanent registration of a used car brought from abroad is not open to most foreign residents, apart from limited special cases. So before booking we ask you to confirm your situation with Turkish customs or a clearing agent there, and we help you prepare Saudi export papers: registration, proof of ownership and the lender’s letter if any.

If the car ships, it is strapped into the container with wheel chocks and photographed before the doors close. See car shipping.

Packing furniture and loading the container in Madinah

Furniture bound for Turkey must withstand a long voyage with humidity and temperature swings, so we use blankets, heavy film and corrugated board, and place moisture absorbers inside the container. Loading is planned: heavy items low and along the sides, fragile ones on top, gaps filled and the load strapped so it cannot shift as the ship moves.

Wood gets blankets then film, mirrors and glass corrugated board or wooden crates, and screens their boxes. Appliances are emptied and dried a day ahead, because leftover water turns into damp and mould over weeks at sea. Sofas get film then board, and mattresses sealed bags.

Because Turkish customs ask for a list giving the brand and serial number of each electrical appliance, we record them while packing, so no carton has to be opened later to find them.

Documents and customs for Turkey

The papers for bringing household goods into Turkey depend on the owner’s status: returning Turkish citizens have one set, foreign residents another. In general you need your passport, a detailed inventory listing appliance brands and serial numbers, a bill of lading in the passport holder’s own name, a Turkish tax number and your entry and exit dates.

Foreign residents usually need a valid residence permit or work permit and a notarised lease of at least 12 months or a title deed for the home; a deposit or charges may apply if these conditions are not met. Confirm your Turkish paperwork before loading in Madinah, so the shipment does not reach port and wait for documents while storage charges build up.

Match the name on every paper

The bill of lading must be in the name of the passport holder who will clear the shipment in Turkey. A mismatch is one of the most common reasons containers are held.

What cannot be shipped to Turkey?

Narcotics, weapons, ammunition and counterfeit goods cannot be shipped to Turkey, and flammables, gas cylinders, fuel and damaged batteries must not go in the container. Plants, soil and perishable food face health and agricultural restrictions, and medicines go in personal quantities with a prescription. New appliances beyond personal need are treated as goods.

Commercial goods and parcels to Turkey

Commercial cargo goes by sea in full or shared containers, or by air if small and valuable, and needs a commercial invoice, certificate of origin, bill of lading and an importer in Turkey. Small personal parcels go by air; note that Turkey charges duty on parcels above a certain value.

Delivery in Turkey, insurance and storage

After clearance at the Turkish port, the container or shipment is taken to your address, unloaded, checked against the list and assembled on request. Inspect items as they come off and photograph any issue immediately.

Marine insurance matters on long voyages and is set at a value you declare before shipping. If your Turkish home is not ready when you leave Madinah, your furniture can go into furniture storage and ship once your housing papers are complete.

Districts we collect from in Madinah

We collect from every district of Madinah, such as Al Awali, Al Aziziyah, Quba, Sultanah, Al Khalidiyah, Al Difa, Al Anabis, Shoran, Al Harrah Al Gharbiyah and Al Iskan, and from Yanbu, AlUla, Badr, Khaybar, Al Mahd and Al Hinakiyah. We arrange for the container to stand outside your home, or a truck to shuttle goods to it if the street is narrow.

How much does a container hold? Estimating your load

A 20 ft container holds about 33 cubic metres, usually enough for a two- or three-bedroom flat, while a 40 ft container holds about 67 cubic metres and suits villas and large homes. For comparison, a single bedroom typically takes 6 to 9 cubic metres, an Arabic majlis 5 to 8, and a fridge about one. If your furniture is under half a 20 ft container, a shared container is usually cheaper; above that, a private container gives a clearer price and avoids warehouse handling.

Preparing your home before the container is loaded

  • Empty and dry appliances two days ahead, not one, because the voyage is long.
  • Note appliance brands and serial numbers, or let us record them with you.
  • Remove prohibited items such as gas, aerosols and flammable liquids.
  • Set aside a bag for your first weeks in Turkey before the container arrives.
  • Make sure your passport name matches the name on the bill of lading.

Electrical appliances between Saudi Arabia and Turkey

Turkey uses 230 V at 50 Hz with European two-round-pin plugs; Saudi Arabia is around 230 V at 60 Hz. Most of your devices will work after a plug change or a simple adapter, especially electronics that support both frequencies. Motors designed for 60 Hz only deserve a look before shipping, as their performance may change. Remember that Turkish customs will see the appliance list with serial numbers, so do not ship something you will not use; it costs shipping and registration for nothing.

Steps to ship from Madinah to Turkey

  1. Send photos of your furniture, the Turkish city and your travel date.
  2. We suggest a private or shared container and send the price.
  3. You confirm your Turkish papers: residence, tax number and housing contract.
  4. We pack, record serial numbers and load the container.
  5. The container goes to Jeddah port and is booked on a vessel; we tell you the sailing.
  6. It arrives at Mersin or Istanbul, is cleared and delivered to your home.

Tips before shipping to Turkey

  • Check Turkey’s rules for furniture and cars before booking, not after.
  • Never ship damp appliances; the voyage is long.
  • Take with you, or send by air, what you need for the first month.
  • Keep a copy of the list and appliance serials on your phone.
  • See shipping to Turkey for services from other regions.
